hi all, Charli has had a over night stay in hospital last night, she had been off colour for a few days but could not put my finger on what it was, then yesterday day her temp was really high and hadnt kept any milk down was sweaty lethargic and generally not her self. Took her A&E they were concered as she had come out in a little rash that didnt go with pressure so we were sent onto the childrens ward . They took blood from her head which was awful and left iv drive there incase she need meds thriuhj it (not sure what its really called). She had to have a chest xray as they were worried that it was heart faliure, thank fully the results showed that it wasnt but that her liver was enlarged so as she is under birmingham they contacted them who said she needed frusemide. So they gave it her and kept her in overnight. Thankfully today she kept her milk down and her liver has gone back to normal so they have let her come home and as we go bch next week they will decide wether to introduce frusemide as a long term thing and what they are going to do about her heart. She seems a lot better now although was sick when we got in, but the hospital have said she just has a viral URTI, and will be back to her normal chatty self soon x x

Ah poor Charli Mai - and you of course. Hope she continues to improve. George was on Furosamide and Amilaride from when he had his op in December until yesterday when we had his check up, he was fine on it just had lots of heavy nappies with them being diuretics! (my spelling is terrible) Good luck at the appointment next week x

A lot of children with heart defects have amiloride and furosomide. Holly was on it until a few months ago, she was on them from 12 weeks old onwards.
Glad she is OK, must have been terrifying for you. Its not nice when they take blood but they can check all sorts of things from one little sample.
Hope she gets better and better for you hunni

hi all, just got back from the hospital again, Charli had a very restfull night last night i ended up holding her whilst she slept and i didnt, so this morning i took her to the docs who said she had got a high temp sounded chesty and basically did not think that she had got a viral urti so sent us back up to the hospital, turns out that she now has a virus and se condary chest infection, fluid on the lungs and basically her heart is under abit of stress, so they finally gave her antibiotics (why they didnt do this in the first place is anyones guess) bch still say they dont want her on diretics until they have seen her and assessed her so its back to the waiting game, tuesday cant come quick enough now

well she has had 2 more nights in hospital again with vomiting and diarrhoea lethargic and high temp, the hospital discharged her on monday saying to give milk little and often so thats what i did in the space of 6 hours she had 8 dirty nappies i ended up taking her to the docs again who sent us back to the hospital they now say she has got Gastroentritis and just give her dioralyte so thats all she has had since yesterday afternoon but she is still vomiting after that and having loose stools she was weighed on t 30/4/07 at 15lb 1oz she got weighed yesterday 8/05/06 and weighed 14lb 5oz that to me seems such a big loss especially seen as she is slow weight gain anyway. I hate seeing her the way she is at the moment she is so sleepy and clingy thats just not her at all, but then i dont know what else to do?

Hi Sarah, Lucy is prone to bugs like that. She does the same as Charli Mai, not eating or drinking. When she is ill I try to give anything with fluids in - ice cream and ice lollies are great as they don't take them in too fast.
Hope she's feeling better soon. Take care Nicola

Oh I'm sorry to hear that Charli Mai is poorly again. Poor little thing. Only bit of advice I can give is that George won't drink juice or water from a bottle or baby cup but will drink it from a normal beaker without a lid (I hold it for him), he does spill lots but definately drinks some of it, so it may be worth a try for Charli to get some fluids in her. Good luck and I hope she feels better very soon xx
