Fab news - can't wait to see him - he's a good weight so I reckon his heart problem can't be too bad. I know the holes are very common and usually sort them selves out. There are lots of Mums and Dads here who have been through heart problems so I hope they can help about the AVSD - you'll become experts in no time.
PICTURES PLEASE!!

Congrats on the safe arrival of little Lewis. What a good weight!! He's have been a right whopper if he'd have hung on another 9 days! lol.
Thomas had a complete AVSD which was operated on when he was 15 weeks old. His repair was 100% successful and hes thriving now. I'm sure there are a few other mums that can help you too but if you have any questions or anything please feel free to PM me. xx

AWWWWWWWWWWWWW CONGRATULATIONS HUNNI. What a lovely birth weight hunni Holly AVSD is very complicated, she is one of the unlucky ones. They tried to repair it last year when she was 2 a lot later than they normally do it cus she has been sooooo poorly before. But alas they can't fix her. The majority of babies have very successful repairs just lil Holly bol is a pain in the bottom... LOL Enjoy him hunni and treat him the same as your others, I know natural reaction is to wrap him up in cotton wool, but he can cope with it babes

CONGRATULATIONS on the birth of Lewis, what a good weight!!! George was also born with a complete AVSD, although it didn;t get picked up till he was 3 months old . He had his operation at 6 months and is doing great, just got a leaky valve that may need more surgery later on. I know you will worry lots and lots but try not to focus too much on it at the moment. He's a brilliant weight and the professionals will keep a close eye on him now they know about his heart condition. If you want to pm me any time with any questions please do and I'll do what I can to help you. Take care and give Lewis a great big kiss and cuddle from us. Congratulations again, enjoy him xxxxx

Huge congratulations on the safe arrival of Lewis, really looking forward to seeing him at long last (when you get chance). Charli was born with complete avsd, but as she is doing so well with it at the moment they are waiting before they operate, we have been told she will have her op when she's 2-3. Like the others have said pm if you want more details although i find it difficult to understand myself, so im probably not the best person to ask about it, what i do know is try not to worry to much, enjoy getting to know your little bundle of joy, so very pleased for you take care hun x x

Lovely to hear Lewis arrived safely, congratulations to you and your family xx
My Harry had heart surgery, but not for an AVSD so not much advice I can offer I'm afraid. Only that in my experience the doctors and nurses were wonderful, so don't worry about asking them lots of questions if you feel they haven't explained things well enough. Take care x

AWWWWWWW big congratulations to you, Sounds like he is doing great and like the others have said get the pictures on quickly !!!
Grace had a AVSD which was repaired at 5 months. Up until the surgery grace was really good and never had much problems except for tiredness. She is doing absolutley brilliant now. There are lots of stories to read about heart issues and surgeries in the heart support section. If you want to know anything else give me a shout or one of the other ladies
Take care

tina just a little bit of advice.....ask loads of questions and ask them to put the answers in laymans terms as its a lot easier to digest than all the long terms they use......im not trying to say that you would not understand the long terms but it does get a bit bewildering......keep us informed......loads of luv tracy n cory..xx

Congrtas on the arrival of Lewis. If you google AVSD lots of info comes up. The following is a website especially related to Children with Downs syndrome and heart defects and gives a summary of AVSD. www.dhg.org.uk/information/atrioventricularseptaldefect.aspxthe present recomendation is to operate before 6 months of age so that the pressures in the lungs don't get too high. But they will keep a close eye on Lewis and each child is treated according to their own needs. Enjoy your early daya with Lewis. MSN me when you feel up to it. Chris x.

Marshall was really poorly piror to surgery at 11wks and outcome looked bleak we where told that he might not make it through the surgery, it was hard going in them early days just keep thinking positive thoughts and make the most of every day. xxxxxx

Holly was on infatrini too It will do him the world of good, He won't need as much, so will have more energy to feed.
