Josh is due to have his 4th hearing test in as many months on the 20th of Nov. Because he has not responded well at the last ones (and his noisy beathing has always got in the way!!) they are talking about sedating him. Has anyone else been through this?? I'm worried for my little fellow !!

Hi, yes we had this with George. He never responded well with the usual tests so they wanted to do the sleep test. It was ok really, sounds scary when they mention sedation though doesn't it. They just gave him some medicine then he went to sleep about 20 mins later and stayed asleep while they did the hearing tests. We had to wait with him on the ward til he woke up which was only about an hour then we could go home. Its a good test to have done when they're little as it can measure exactly what sound is getting through. A doctor listened to George's chest before he was given any sedation and they monitored his oxygen levels while he was sedated aswel. All in all George was fine having this test done so don;t worry about Josh he will be fine too. Take care x
ps, don;t know if you've read it yet but I put a relpy in 'introductions' about hearing George's hearing aids x

Hi Tracey
Harrison had this test too, it's a good way of getting an accurate result. With the other tests they were only able to guess at his hearing loss, once he'd had the test under sedation they were able to accurately tell us his hearing loss + confirmed that it was only caused by glue ear.
How old is your little fellow?
Love Lisa & Harry xx
