:Dhi all.brandons portage worker is really nice she does all she can for him.she is also a ear for any concerns i have which she deals with to her best ability the early months she did great activities with him and set new target almost ever month.i was very worried about brandon starting nursery but she came with me to view schools, spoke to all the staff who would be working with him.even now if i have any problems with the school she handles it.sadly she will be leaving him in march when he is 5.

Good luck Danni with portage, I can't wait to hear how it goes.
I remember a few months ago, everytime I portage would turn up, I'd be chatting to you on MSN, She saw Josh on web cam also lol, she thought he was gorgeous!

well, we had our first portage visit today - it was just checking where joshua is developmentally - he is on par with everything but his cognitive skills which we will be working on he is also not sitting up yet so joshua's portage is referring him to physio

I call portage a "home School" well I tell the boys that anyway... LOL
Portage is actually a little town in america where they first came up with the idea to help children with special needs to reach small targets set for them.
Not everywhere in the UK is lucky enough to have portage. South Staffs have had portage for over 15 years, yet north Staffs (where I am) have only had it for 3. With it coming under the education board and not the NHS it has completely different funding.
They will monitor the little ones until they are either in full time nursery or full time school and will be able to advise us on which school would suit them best whether it be mainstream or special needs.
Speak to your Paed or Social worker to ask if its available in your area.

Glad to hear all is going well with Josh Dannii . Physio is only given on a needed basis, you can only be referred to physio if your baby seems to have difficulty in obtaining balance etc, which is normally picked up after your baby has his/her 8 months review. We don't have Portage workers up here in Scotland Lizzie, you should however contact your health visitor and ask about PREFCAT or pre 5 educational support, then you may be able to get a few appointments with a pre 5 support teacher.
