Well our experiences so far (after the initial shock) have been really nice.
We found out a week after she was born that she has Down's.
Naturally we were shocked, well I was devestated.....
I felt like my perfect daughter had been given something awful, something that would make her whole life difficult, or people wouldn't except her. I just wanted to run away with her and take her somewhere safe, away from the cruel world.
Then I got to know her all over again, it didn't take long, just a couple of days.
I read up on Down's, looked on websites, then found, Down's isn't all that bad at all. Before this point, ignorance was my worst enemy!
I learnt soo much, her whole life was not going to be difficult, yes it would take a little more time to learn things, but once she'd learn these things, they would stay with her.
Everyone I have met have accepted her...and adore her!! I suppose we may come across some ignorant idiot sooner or later, but I AM PREPARED lol!!
Lisa is the most easiest laid back baby I have ever come across.
She's always happy and contented....chats for England...and yay...at last she is saying mumumumumum!!
We've been lucky with Lisa, she has no health prob's appart from PDA, which may sort itself out, we went to see the consultant the other day and he said he couldn't hear any funny noises in her chest, so that's hopeful!!
She's 9 months old at the mo, and the consultant said she at the same level as a 7 month old 'normal' baby, which I am very pleased about. She's doing some things that other kids can't do yet.....
That's because she's SOOOO CLEVER LOL!!
The whole family love her soo much, especially her big sisters, and she'll have a younger sibling in 7 months, whom I expect she'll adore.
Anyway, just wanted to let any new parents who are scared of the unknown.....it does get better and better and better.
We get so much out of Lisa, she has taught(sp) us loads.
Take care,
Jojo.xx
