Following our recent visit to our Child Development centre we received Rachel's report which is all good as I said but.....apparently because she is making good progress with all her own & our eff orts (we are on the waiting list for the playgroup) but as the list is quite long she will is not immediate priority . I can understand in some ways but I just want the best input for her & she is so responsive now that I feel she would really do well with input etc from the playgroup. I don't know about portage as we only just got referred but do they work on a prioritybasis? Feel a bit despondent about things as it seems that we have to work it all out by ourselves. Susan

hi i felt like that at first with brandon so know the feeling all to well.no portage dont work like that.you will have a portage worker assigned to you and they will stay with you untill rachael is 5 or untill she goes into year 1.they were brilliant for brandon his portage worker was great.she set some really good tasks for him.also portage help alot with the schooling.and sort out everything needed to meet the needs of these children within school. if you have any problems with the school they are there to support and help you and the child.as for the playgroup brandon went to one at the cdc it was good as you have the other parents to share experiences with also you get ideas to use at home.hope you get the place. all the best.

Caleb got bumped up the list for portage as he wasn't needing anything else - but that might just be what they do round here. I just make sure that he has as much interaction with other kisd of all sorts as much as possible - he's learning loads on his own. Good luck
