Hiya
Thanks for all your good wishes and thanks to Shirley for keeping you all up to date. Well BIG girl Carly is now 9 days old and I have to say making our lives very easy so far, unlike the way she entered the world!!!
OMG what a birth!
Well it as you know it all started with me slipping and falling out the bath! I was ok but sore then the bleeding started.
I actually got excited thinking it was a show!! So hardly slept because I was up checking on bleeding through the night.
Phoned local maternity unit in the morning, told to go down straight away, was checked over and they thought it wasn't a show, so booked me in for emergency induction that afternoon. Thats when my panic set in, I was really upset and got myself into a right state and then off to the hossie.
Was put on monitor when I arrived and babys heartbeat was good, so I was just waiting on a delivery room to become available, they said they could break my waters so was no need for gel.
On the ward was a 1st timer contracting away, so every other minute you would hear 30 secs of groaning and I think i came out with sympathy contractions, which started me off!!
So anyway this was about 3, by 5 contractions were coming hard and fast and I had no pain relief, brian arrived about 6 and at 7 I asked to be examined as I knew things were progressing to be told I was only 5cm, I suggested to doc if she broke my waters then it would all be over very quickly, as I knew how quickly I was progressing, she didn't so I took there offer of tens machine and gas and air, so I was hooked up to monitor again and contractions were showing that they were just finishing then starting again, however I wasn't caring, I had finally got the hang of the gas and air and was on cloud 9 with lots of smiles and giggles. They tried to limit my intake but I stressed to them again that I wouldn't be in labour much longer and to please break my waters, again they refused.
Then at 9.15 I had another bleed, a big one this time and everything seemed to fast forward, all of a sudden a room was available and I was whisked through to delivery, by this time I had sobered up again and kept trying to tell them please break my waters, it will all be over if you do, but they then had to wait for a doc to do that, so eventually a doc arrived at 10pm, who broke my waters and OMG what alot of water, they were struggling to keep it on bed and were scrambling for more pads. It just kept coming and coming, I'm not surprised she came out clean!!!
Anyway they examined me and I had jumped to 9cm, so i only had time to tell them I TOLD YOU SO!! Then the pain intensified and gas and air were doing nothing for me, some 5-10 minutes later I had the urge to push, poor midwife was then running around trying to get ready, so I started pushing and the head was half out at the end of a contraction with cord round her neck, which she couldn't get too. Next thing i was told to pant and then the midwife hit the emergency button and I heard her shout shoulders and the room filled with people, 8 in total. There was 4 of them round me pulling at my legs, keeping them apart, while another 2 were pushing and shoving at my belly. Eventually she came out, completely lifeless, I only got a chance to ask brian the sex before she was rushed over to lamp to be resuscitated, that was the longest time of my life, I lay there waiting for her cry and it took about 30 secs, 30 seconds is a long time when you're waiting.
They weighed her then i had my first cuddle. Gobsmacked at her size
Because she got stuck she has problems with her right shoulder and moving her right arm, it just hangs there quite limp but they say it should get better
Sorry its so long, better go now to catch up on everybody elses chat
