Hi guys, i know some of your little one suffer from reflux and was just wondering if it ever causes them to go blue? The reason i ask is that over the past 6 weeks or so there have been 3 occasions where Corbie has turned blue and gone really sleepy and lifeless and we ended up in the childrens hospital with him last week, although by the time we had got there he had made a miraculous recovery and they couldn't find anything wrong with him! My first concern was that it was his heart but after seeing a consultant he has been diagnosed with reflux as on 2 of the occasions he was sick and that is when his colour started to come back. He is now on ranitidine and gaviscone and touch wood he seems to be a lot better, just wondering what your experiences were? Thanks, Tina x x

Rosie was diagnosed with reflux on her second bout of gastro enteritis in April so she is on Ranitidine, Domperidone and Gaviscon. Rosie has never had any real episodes of turning blue even before they found the holes in her heart so i am sorry i cant be of much help. If he is doing well then it makes you wonder whether its a strange side effect of reflux. Sorry i cant be of any more help but hope he continues to do well. Michelle x

Hi
Cai was diagnosed with reflux at 6wks old. I thought he was just a sicky baby as my first was just never sick.
We tried gaviscon but altho it seemed to work at beginning it soon became clear it wasn't enough. We changed him to a prescription only milk 'Enfamil AR' and that did the trick.
However, Cai never turned blue. It was messy but never really scary. Let's hope the new medication sorts things out for you all.
p.s. just for the record - Cai is a brilliant eater. We were always told that after reflux he would probably have feeding difficulties which I know a lot of our little ones have. Cai doesn't - so pls don't take it as a given that once a problem always a problem.

Hi Tina, Sorry for being so slow replying, just noticed your thread. Harry used to have similar 'episodes', touch wood fingers-crossed etc etc it hasn't happened for a while now. I found once he was on more dry food he was much better and was able to come off the medication. I sympathise tho, a couple of times I called the ambulance and the second time when he arrived at hospital he was pink and laughing! It has also helped now he is more active + I make sure he doesn't go to sleep straight after he has eaten because the reflux is worse after eating/drinking. Hope Corbie is doing ok now. xxx
