Lucy has almost overnight decided she won't eat from a spoon. She won't touch food either, so im feeding her like a little baby bird ;D and popping bitesized pieces of food in her open mouth. When will she have any desire to eat finger feed??? she can't reach the tray on her high chair unless she's packed with cushions and towels by the time i've done that she looks really uncomfortable and peed off. Its just taking me the best part of an hour to get a decent amount of food in her. oh and she's lost weight as well and gone to 17.6 so im stressing about that too. I really worry about this because she doesn't have any spare weight when she gets poorly sorry to go on x

Hi Karen, does she want to feed herself with a spoon? George has to feed himself now and if I try and help he goes mad. sometimes I'll manage to get some in his mouth with another spoon but then he spits it back out and feeds himself lol. Also he;s very fussy about eating sandwiches but if I just leave the plate on the lounge floor he'll eat some. Will Lucy's high chair fit at the main table if you take the tray off? xxx

the highchair won't fit under our table, but she does sit at the table with us. She will hold a spoon but it goes everywhere including ears and eyes but not the mouth! I guess i just got to persevere! although she will eat a cheese spread sandwich now providing its in little bits and i put them in her mouth!

lol, I'm sure she will get better at feeding herself soon, George is awful still though but I just let him get on with it, hoping that he will get better at it. He does manage to eat a good amount but some days it gets everywhere, and he always throws the bowl on the floor when he's had enough!!! x

Hi Karen I am sorry i dont have any suggestions for you to try but i just thought i would offer my support! I am sure You are doing a great job even though you don't feel like it! Our little ones are so determined aren't they? Rosie wont do finger food, still blows raspberries a lot so spits out more than goes in, constantly rocks back and forth (to the point of banging her head deliberately on back of high chair) and wont eat lumps or anything cold! Food is a constant battle but i am sure things will get better for all of us- i keep telling myself that anyway Michelle x

ooh she will do quavers now as well!!
We couldn't get on a local signing course - so we've just been doing it ourselves at home. I bought a makaton pocket book of signs and some board books my first signs. Also portage leant me a couple of books. Im just doing hello, all gone, more, biscuit, juice etc and will learn more as and when required. I got the whole family involved we say the words and do the sign at the same time. Trouble is when ANYONE says hello to me I sign hello back lol!!!!
Good luck with the biscuits and the signing. You could try getting some books from the library, and I think it was claire that suggested to me to series link the something special childrens signing programme to save buying the dvds. I like something special because then i can confirm that i've got the sign correct. Also cbeebies website shows some of the signs. HTH good luck x
