Just wanted to say hi and introduce my gorgeous little boy to you all (not uploaded pics as yet) Im Liane, 29 and from Glasgow and my little man, who is 9 weeks is called Kai John. I also have another gorgeous little girl called Keera who is 2 and a half! Kai was born on the 28th of June and we found out about an hour or so after his birth that he had downs. It was a total shock as id had all the tests and detailed scans and nothing was picked up. I was devastated and felt like my whole word had come crashing down around me, i just wasnt prepared. He has an AVSD which is being repaired around Oct time, im terrified but cant wait for his little heart to hopefully be fixed and i can rest a little more. Kai had all his eye, hearing and usual checks done and he sailed through them all so he's doing fantastic! I just love him to pieces now and feel so gulity about all the thoughts and feelings i had when he first entered the world. I wouldnt change a single thing about him. Look forward to getting to know you all. Love Liane xxxxx
Congratulations on the birth of your little man Kai John!
I'm Tina mum to Brodie 5 who has ds and i also have 2 year old twins boys Corbie and Lucas. I know i have found this site a brilliant help over the last few years, there's always someone on here who can answer your questions or put your mind at rest.
Sounds like Kai's doing great, look forward to seeing some pics of him soon.
Hiya, I'm Max and I have Caleb who is almost 3. I stil feel sad and guilty that i wasted so much time and effort feeling bad when Caleb was born - he's GREAT now and I'm sure that kai is just as utterly perfect.
Our kids are brilliant and it's a diferent world now with opportunities for people with DS that just didn't happen even a few years ago.
Welcome to Up for downs - looking out for pics of your boy! xx
Hi Liane congrats on your lovely wee man. im Cate mum to Ewan 10 Anna 8 and Laura 14 months. Laura has ds and we also found out as soon as she was born she had a complete AVSD repair in January. Its really scary but she sailed through it. I hope i can help you with any advice. This site has been a great help and support to me although i havent been on so much lately as have been away to our caravan most of the summer. You will probably have had loads of different feelings good and bad but believe me i could not have possibly have imagined the way Laura has changed me for the better. I have had so many great experiences and made so many new friends in the past year. Look forward to seeing some pics i have to put on some recent ones xx
Hi liane and kai huge congratulations to you, kai sounds gorgeous xx Im Karen Mum to Lucy age 2 who has DS and Luke age 11. I went into shock when Lucy was born as i wasn't prepared, id had a high risk triple test but opted not to have an amnio, scan was all fine. Lucy is prone to chest infections and constipation and is due to have her tonsils adenoids out and grommets in, apart from that no major health concerns. look forward to chatting and getting to know you both xx
Welcome to this great site! i'm mum to Daniel who was 3 in June - He's FAB, but yes it was a total shock when he was born - so many people feel like that but for me, it almost makes Daniels achievements even better and makes me love him more because I didnt think he'd be like he is now when he was born! (if that make any sense!) Looking forward to some pics!
