Hi my name is Nicky, and thanks to my good friend Anita, I have found this brilliant site. My husband Wayne and I had our little boy Ethan in October 2006, and it as been a rollercoaster ride (and believe me I don't like rollercoasters!) He is he most precious little person, but it has been far from easy, with an emergency cesearean , and low birth weight, sleep apnoea, severe reflux and syndactyly (conjoined fingers on each hand)...and all a first baby!! I know it could have been worse and I'm very gateful for that but it doesn't make it any easier when you are in the thick of it. Ethan is now 1, we still have the reflux, sleep apnoea and await his first hand operation when he's two. I have met so many lovely people because of Ethan, it is turning out to be an amazing journey.
Am just trying to work out how to put a photo of him on here!?...and he's just pulled the telephone directory's of the bookshelf. Good lad!
Look forward to hearing back from anyone
Nicky x

Hello ladies, wow what a response!...and what a lot of cute little ones. I didn't know what sleep apnoea was either...it's when the body basically forgets to breathe and oxygen levels in blood drop. Ethan does it on a regular basis, and after sleep studies we found out that he pulls himself out of it at around a minute, but when he does on average 23 times a night it was more than a little worrying to start with he was on a monitor but that was more stressful as it did nothing but beep! We have been assured that it is normal for him. It's taken a while to get used to...infact am not sure I have, my heart still skips a beat when he does it. Henri and Ethan are great mates!!
My task for after lunch is to put a picture on!!

Hi Tracy, (and all) Cory looks adorable. Lack of sleep is so hard isn't it. I find myself doing stupid things all the time because I'm so tired. I wish Ethan would learn to pull my grey hairs out and leave the coloured ones in!! Hair pulling seems to be his main activity at the moment. Yes this will be my new addiction, so good to know that we all can discuss important things to do with our children, have a laugh and a moan.
Really must go and do some work. ha ha

Hi, and welcome Nicky!
Wow, sounds like Ethan is keeping you busy...he's gorgeous btw....(thanks for posting the pic Anita!)
Lisa is 2 and a half, and hair pulling is still one of her favourite passtimes, unfortunatly it's normally her lil brother who gets it the most! It's so funny now, as when she comes anywhere near him, he already has his hands out ready to push her away. He is 16 months old, and they are the same size!
Anyway, look forward to getting to know more about you and your family, and some pics of Ethan!

Hi Nicky and My youngest son Harrison is 3 years old and has down syndrome. He had sydactylyl on both his hands when he was born too, 2 fingers were joined on both hands. He had surgery to separate them when he was about 18 mths I think (seems like ages ago now and my memory is awful). He had his done at E. Grinstead hospital. Let me know if you want any info nearer the time, it sounds like you have your hands full at the moment with little Ethan's sleep apnoea. Look forward to getting to know you and seeing more pics of your little man, take care xx

Hi Nicky I am Debbie and have 4 children, Gemma is our youngest with DS she will be 2 in a couple of weeks. She had a bumpy start to life, she had two lots of open heart surgery at 3 weeks old and there were complications so we nearly lost her but thanks to the skill of the amazing people at Southampton General Hospital she pulled through. She is doing amazingly well now and goes from strength to strength. We have found there are highs and lows having a child with DS but the highs far outway the lows, and Gemma is our precious princess and we wouldnt be without her for anything. Ethan looks gorgeous in the photo. This is a fantastic site and I am so pleased I found it, all the children on here are totally gorgeous. Look forward to talking to you. xx

Good Morning All!! What amazing little people we all have...although I wasn't quite so chirpy at 2.20am when Ethan woke up coughing and he hasn't been well since. Off to docs later for yet more antibiotics for chest. If anyone has any diet tips for coughs/chest infections would be grateful. Started Ethan on goats milk yesterday to see if it makes any difference. Thank you to everyone for making me feel like I am not alone. We all have different challenges, and we are all only human taking each day as it comes. Will get round to some personal replies soon. Have a good day!!! Nicky xx Ethan in his swimming costume...looking like a giant as I still can't work this photo thingy out!!?

Hello everyone. Thank you Daniella for sorting pictures out! To be honest I am suffering from PND, taking the tablets, seen the counsellor, bought the t-shirt. You know the routine. I have a few good days and think yes everything is balancing out, and then seem to lose it again. I am sorry to everyone who has kindly written to me but I haven' t had the energy to reply yet. Ethan actually slept through the night last night, but that is very rare thing. Off to bed now and it's only 9.30pm!!! Ah well my partying days are over. Ha ha. Take care all
Nicky x

hi Nicky.Ethan looks a lovely happy boy.i have a little boy called Brandon who is 5.he has suffered from sleep apnoea since birth.we've had sleep study after sleep study and the machine bleeping alnight you feel like you are the only person in the world to be awake alnight and it gets you down.2 years ago Brandon had his tonsils out as they were huge and causing obstruction in his throat.he still doesn't sleep and after 5 years we have been given medication for him it called chloral hydrate basically it's knockout drops and they do work but are very strong.i think your little fellow abit young for them though but i thought I'd let you know theres a good nights sleep at the end of the tunnel even if it takes 5 years to get there lol
