Hi everyone. George is just getting over a chest infecion and seems to have gone off milk. For about 4 days he hardly had anything to eat or drink but his appetite for food is back to normal but he won't drink his milk like he was before. He;s having 3-4 0zs in the morning and thats all. He used to have 7 ozs in the morning and 7 at night before bed. He;s still having juice through the day aswel. I'm a bit concerned that he's not having enough, just wondered if anyone knows is there an amount of milk that they should be consuming. I seem to remember from when Esme was little that it was a pint a day but that was a few years ago now and I'm probably totally wrong anyway. Does anyone else have a problem getting their kids to drink milk? I don't like putting George to bed without him having his bottle first, it doesn't seem right. Anyone got any ideas please xx

Milk can make your saliva a bit.. well... stringy, so maybe its that thats putting him off it. Try watering it down a little to start with and build it back up again

Hi Claire, Is George still a bit gunky from the cold iykwim? Has he still got a bit of congestion, because cows milk tends to make that worse so maybe his little body is telling him not to drink it at the mo? As long as he's drinking plenty of juice I wouldn't worry, I know my sister in law has terrible problems getting both her kiddies to drink much milk and she said the health visitor wasn't worried because they were putting on weight and getting plenty of other fluids.
I switched Harry to goats milk and then soya milk when he was quite young and the paed said he wasn't worried because his diet was really good so he was getting the vitamins he needed. So if you were still concerned you could maybe try soya, but it sounds like it may just be because he's not yet feeling 100% after his chest infection. x

Thanks for the replies, yes he is still a bit chesty with his cough. Have started to water his milk down - thanks Ril, he is having a bit more to drink now. I've also tried a cup (again, have tried lots of different ones) and thats working too so fingers crossed he will be back to normal soon xx
