Thomas had an app on Tues afternoon at the hearing centre in Leeds. They have taken some molds of his ears for his hearing aids and they should be ready in about 4 weeks.
I couldn't believe the colours and things that they come in. I chose baby blue for the actual aid itself and clear ear pieces with noddy and big ears pics in them. lol.
They audiologist did say that at this age cos kids grow so quickly they might need new ear pieces every week or so!! I really hope not cos its a bit of a 'mare getting parked near the clinic.
How often do you guys have new ear pieces made for your little ones?

OMG how funny, I took George to get more impressions done this morning and I also chose Noddy pictures! George's actual hearing aids are blue aswell - we must have good taste lol. Generally its about 6 weeks til he needs new ones done but it all depends on how quickly they grow. Do you have a teacher of the deaf that comes to your house as they can usually do mould impressions too. Also our 'inclusions service' run a parent and toddler group every thursday morning which is where I take George to get his impressions done. Your people may run something similar in your area. Good luck with Thomas keeping them in, George is a nightmare and is forever pulling them out. I kept putting him in hoody tops with the hood up and this did stop him for a while but he's mastered how to get them out through his hood now so other than tying his hands together I don;t know what else to try lol xx

Harrison had some impressions taken yesterday for new moulds too, I normally take him but I had to be at work so my hubby took him which to be honest I was quite pleased about because Harry hates having that done and gets very stroppy!! It's been several months since his last moulds were done and the current ones are still ok. I think when they're little they have to have them done more regularly but Harry is 3 years old and once every couple of months seems to be fine for him. Harry was a pickle for pulling them out when he was younger but he's really good with them now and will wear them all day, he has a clip which goes on them and attaches to his clothes so if he pulls one off I don't lose it. Harry's teacher for the deaf is wonderful, they're a really good support and I think all kiddies who have hearing aids are allocated one. I bet Thomas will look really cute with his little noddy and big ears moulds. xx P.S. Claire, Harry was exactly the same when he was younger, in the end we resorted to just trying one hearing aid in short bursts and gradually built that up. It took a few months but it worked in the end, and I have to say with alot of help from Harry's teacher for the deaf, I had days when I felt like giving up with it but she was so enthusiastic that we managed to get there in the end

Its good to know that he might not need new molds that often. Thanks guys!
I'm dreading the whole keeping them in scenario. Thomas is terrible for pulling stuff off eg. shoes, socks, hats, gloves etc. Lets hope that the fact they help him means he'll keep them in!
I'm not 100% sure about the teacher for the deaf thing. Will we still get one even though Thomas' hearing aids are temporary until he can have his op? Probably sounds silly but I haven't a clue!
