Hi everyone, just had our first visit from the physio today. she was very pleased with Grace . She had her laying on her belly and she was trying so hard to lift her head up when she heard us talking, and she managed it very well. Her wee legs were even trying to push to get herself moved. I am sooooo proud of her. physio has given us some little excercises to do with grace to help her along. Any one else got any advise for things we should be doing with her now?

Sounds like you have a natural little star there Shirley!!
As Grace is still so little i would just encourage you to give her time on her tummy so that she will learn good head control and improve her muscle tone, keep toys out in front so that she will lift her head to see them ,then progress to moving them either to the left or right to get her to move her head to see them.
Baby gyms are pretty good too ,this will encourage her to reach and children often like the ones that play music, have flashing lights or bells.
And of course at Grace's age they love cuddles,so give her a big one from Aaliyah.xx

Thomas is now 6 months old and has never had physio. Should I be asking about this? He is due to go for developmental assessment in Feb in front of a panel consisting of peadeatrician, physio, speech therapist, psychologist and someone else ( I forget who!). I presume it will be looked at then but I'm worried he's missing out. Is there anything I should do with him to help his posture etc. He can roll back to front and lift his head up etc but is no where near ready to sit up.

Hopefully with the panel they will get everyone on board. We only had a few introduction visits to start with, but I think thats with how Poorly Holly was though. Do you have a bumbo??? They are fantastic for little ones that can't sit yet. It helps to keep them in the right position for sitting. Also get one of those little table things old people have in bed when they are ill, you know the ones I mean?? They fit lovely so LO's can sit in their bumbo and play with toys on the table

Thanks Rilith. We did have a Bumbo a few years ago but I gave it away! I'll have to look at getting another. x

She is doing brilliant, had another visit from the physio yesterday. She was so pleased with grace, she says she id doing everything that she should be and that her head control is really good. We are so pleased.
When should I start using a bumbo with grace?
Ta Shirley

No harm in putting her in it for short bursts hun. Obviously you have to be extra wary of muscles in Babies with Downs. If you keep them in the bumbos too long they won't use the right muscles to learn how to sit. But there is nothing wrong with a lil bit of practice

I ordered Caleb a Bumbo yesterday - Kiddicare.com have them for a decent price. Unfortunately as I was on the website I had to order quite a lot of other things... spent over £200 ah well, at least the postage was free!!!
