Yup, deffo takes after her mum!!! LOL
I love listening to her cooing.
I dont know if its just me (might still have a few hang ups about the downs, I dunno...lol) but when she first started to coo I felt relieved. Like it was an imaginary hurdle that she had to get across, and one step closer for her to have a "more" fulfilling life IYKWIM??
Does that sound odd??

No Rilith, it doesn't sound odd....I feel like it with most things Lisa does. Like, for some reason I thought she may never be able to do these things!! Hopefully I'll get over that......

Awwww Don't you'll make me cry. LOL, It does feel like a lil family now. I think its nice. I know I get some odd thoughts running through my head, but I don't feel as though I am being judged for saying what I am feeling. and TBH I feel reassured that I'm not alone for sometimes feeling a little different about things. (((((((((((((HUGS AND LOVE TO YOU ALL))))))))) ;D

(((and to you)))
Yes it is nice to be able to talk without feeling like your putting your foot in it....or, as you said Rilith 'being judged'
Yes it is new to all of us and we will have a lot more to learn, but it's nice to have the help of others in the same situation, or recently been through it themselves.
Awww ONE BIG FAMILY!!

Forgive me for saying this but I am always worried about wether or not rebecca is developing as well as she could, I have asked my h.v and g.p, however they only give an answer based on medical terms that is why I am asking you guys. Rebecca is now just over five months old, she hasn't been weaned as of yet and still doesn't have very good head control. Should she be able to do certain things by this stage?

Every baby is different for starters. Even Downs babies.
Holly has only just (last week or so) got some kind of head control. but only in a sitting position. Still very very jerky but can turn her head to follow sounds and movement. Lay her on her tum and she can barely lift her head off the mat.
She has noticed her hand (she only thinks she has one...lol) doesn't do anything with it, but she knows its there.
She hasn't rolled over yet, or even looks like she wants to.
She smiles now (first smile was at 14 weeks old, then nothing again until about 18 weeks old) she is getting ready to giggle but hasn't done so yet, but almost once or twice.
erm... Oh weaning. I chose to wean her at 12/13 weeks old and the dieticians have been fine with me doing so. She would have been quite happy in staying on milk til she was 15...lol
I think thats about it for Holly really. And there is only a weeks difference in age with Holly and Rebecca
I hope that helps a little bit hun. Its nice to have a babies at a similar age so we can compare notes about different things.

hi rilith is right all babies are different chloe was weaned at 4 months and holding her head up at 5 months and rolling over.Does rebecca have physio?they will tell you what you can do to help her along but like any baby they do things when they are ready and downs babies tend to do a few things at a time and then have a plateau when they dont do anything new for a while. At 11 months chloe sat up and learned to drink out of a cup and crawled and then there was nothing for weeks. So dont worry hun she will do it when she is ready.Take care.

Hi beckasmum,
Lisa was at about the same stage as rebecca at her age and all the proffesionals were very happy with her, so sounds like she's doing just fine.
As I've said to Rilith on a few occasions, all of a sudden, all those little things she is doing now, will turn into big milestones, and probably quite a few at the same time.
It will probably come as a bit of a shock, because one minute , she won't be doing much, then the next, she'll be sitting rolling, get good controll on whats shes doing with her hands.
Lisa at 10 months is sitting unaided, (get one of those nest rubber rings) they have really helped her. Rolling from back to front, only occassionally the other way, dances, sings (in her own way) says...mama, dada, nana, yaya, baba, blows raspberries growls and shouts . Grabs her feet when lying down. Puts her hand up for the song round the garden when prompted. Grabs my nose when I ask her where it is (new one!) Has excellent hand control compared to even a month ago. She's still weak on her legs, but I'm working on that at the moment.
Rebecca will do everything she is supposed to do. I know it sometimes seems as if your not getting anywhere, but you are and you'll get to see the result very soon.xx
