Hiya, I have 2 boys aged 7 & 4, Holly is my lil heart baby. She has TOF, with the AVSD. She has a very narrow pulminory artery and had her 1st op at 9 days old.
The 2nd op was at 9 weeks old. She went in to have a baloon catheta to stretch the artery, but that morning the Docs decided to try something different and insert a stent. Unfortunately the stent slipped and cause damage and sent her heart into cardiac arrest. The surgeons had to perform cardiac massage for 35 minutes to get the heart working properly again. She was rushed straight back into theatre for open heart surgery to repair the damage they had done.
When she finally comeout of surgery 8 hours later, she looked so poorly and frail. Later that night her heart stopped again. We were called down to see her and when we got into ICU all the docs and nurses were around her and they had got her chest open there and then trying to get her heart to beat.
Luckily for us she is a tough little fighter and has come through it OK. She came home with and NG tube which has been an absolute godsend even though it drives me nuts sometimes. She still tires easily and gets out of breath.
We have got to go to have her echo tomorrow (thursday afternoon) to see whether they need to do the balloon catheta again.
She has a total AVSD and just a single valve which they will have to split in two when they do the repair. Which should be some time later this year.
Well thats our story so far. So as you can see I'm a lil bit scared of the next time. Which is understandable really

Yeah we are still OK.
Holly is piling weight on ATM, think her meds need checking to be honest. She is starting to swell. She has put on a pound a week for the last 3 weeks.
We go on the 5th April so fingers crossed all goes well
