Hiya everyone. Haven't been on very much lately, the time just seems to fly by. Just thought I'd see if anyone had any similar experiences regarding hearing tests.
Jasmine passed her hearing test at birth but her peadiatrician sent her for one a month or so just as a matter of course. I wondered how they could test hearing of such a small baby. They sat a woman in front of her who was playing with toys and then the doctor stood behind her and made noises with instruments. I think the idea was for Jasmine to react to the sounds and turn round. Basically she didn't and the doctor reckoned she may have hearing difficulties because she had to make the noises louder to get her attention. The thing is, I'm convinced that Jasmine was too preoccupied with the woman and toys in front of her to be bothered. She does it all the time when playing, I shout her and she ignores me but then other times she will turn to the slightest sound like when I come into the room without even talking.
I'm just not convinced that there is anything wrong with her hearing and don't have much confidence in the way that they tested it. She's goingt to be called back next month anyhow so we'll see what happens.
Her speech is great too, she can say mumma (usually mum mum mum), dan-dad (grandad), hiya, man-ma (grandma), hiya and bye. Would her speach be so good if she had hearing difficulties?
Anyway let me know what you all think. Thanks. x
