hi im maggie (41) my OH is allan(47){old old man!!!} & weve been together for 15 ish years (whos counting?) we have james(9) thomas(6)&william(16months )who has DS.we had no idea until after he was born - in fact it wasnt confirmed by blood tests until he was about 3 weeks old - however we had other things on our minds at the time as he was born with imperforate anus & had an emergency colostomy at 3 days old ,wouldnt feed (tried very hard poor scone but couldnt quite master the sucking thing) and also was diagnosed with heart probs (luckily these resolved themselves over time without intervention). since those early days hes come on leaps & bounds hes had to have 2 futher bowel surgeries but now can poo & pump with the best of them! hes had a few other ups & downs with more minor probs but generally is doing well and threatening to crawl anytime now.must stop blethering now as he ll be needing fed soon - will try to upload some pics when i find out how !!

Hi Maggie, I'm Lucy. I have just the one little one, Jasmine who is almost 1 and has Downs Syndrome. It's great to hear a bit about you, my experience was very different because I found about Jasmine during pregnancy, I prepared myself for the worst and thankfully she has been absolutely fine health wise (just generally a cheeky little monkey!). Look forward to seeing pics and hearing all about you.

;DHi Maggie, I've just recently joined and find it helpful all round, theres always an answer to be found somewhere. I have 8 in all - 5 boys, 3 girls, my youngest, Oisín [3mths]has DS, we found out after he was born too, neither John nor I wanted the tests as we always agreed that it wouldn't sway our decision but I can see how they can be helpful to forwarn about any health issues. Ozzy is grand now, he also has a problems with feeding - slightly prem, jaundiced and chewed! He's a big bruiser now, 11lb 6oz at the last count not bad for a 5lb 5oz tiddler. Got to go now, this is the only time I get near the computer but now Conán[my eldest 17yrs] is home from his p/t job he wants the computer! Breige

Hi Maggie , I am Michelle and i am 43 years old. I live with my husband John in West Sussex and i have a 12 year old daughter from a previous realationship who lives with us, Rosanna (Rosie) who was born on 25th August 2007 (so just over a year old) who has DS. My husband has 2 kids from previous marriage who come at weekends, boy 14 yrs, girl 11yrs. We found out Rosie had DS just after she was born. Refused all tests as knew i would be high risk cos of my age and didn't want to risk any more miscarriages thru invasive testing (had had 4 mc's already). Rosie has had a lot of health problems but thankfully she is on the up over last few months. She still has a ASD (hole in the heart) which wll need fixing when she is 3/4 yrs old. She is an absolute joy and a real character!!! Michelle x
