rilith has pm'd me a few questions (seeing as she was the 1st to post in the tread about joshua but didnt notice the ticker i pm'd her to point it out!) i am sure you would all like to know a few things so i will post the Q&As here as well How is it going??? it is going fine... i have been getting a few stomach cramps but it was reassuring seeing the heart beat yesterday How are you feeling??? very tired! lol i begrudgingly get up in the mornings.. partly coz i have slight insomnia.. it takes me AGES to fall asleep and then when i do fall asleep i am a bit restless. i am starting to feel PG now... even tho i am only nearly 10 weeks i feel a slight pressure in my tummy already... i have mentioned the cramps.. which seem worse this time around when i get up quickly i have to sit back down and i have been getting nasty stitches that can stop me in my tracks What tests are you having or not bothering???we have decided against any tests as i want to experience a pregnancy where i dont have to have loads of tests and hospital appointments... Adam is being the supportive and understanding husband he is and standing by the decision... i dont show my appreciation enough to him. we have an appointment to see a genetisist(sp) on the 16th jan... apparently they can tell us the likelyhood of a reoccurence of downs by looking at joshua's test results he had when he was a baby

Good sounds like a normal pregnancy so far, however the pain when you get up, I had that this pregnancy from 8 weeks, still have it, they think it might be a hernia. More further investigation in 3 weeks for that.
Hows the morning sickness?
Good for you not having any tests, as for Genetist did they not tell you if Joshua was Tri 21, normally if they are tri 21 it is a pure accident at conception, what they told me was I had the same chance again but it was unlikely as he was tri 21.
Also if your going on Bounty, it'll be hard, you have to face alot of ignorance, I've had to face it twice now, its not easy but I was determined to educate the ignorant, do you remember the post with the stupid 22 year old?
If I was you I would opt for basic ante natal, just the checkups.
Keep us posted on how your getting on and if you need a hand on bounty to beat the ignorance i'm not far away in due in april, i've already fought many battles there!!

Congratulations to you, & good for you for sticking to your guns - no tests. I did the same even though I was really old (46) & high risk, i knew in my heart that whatever the outcome we would love our baby- and we surely do! I really enjoyed my pregnancy without the worry of different tests.

Im just taking the attitude what will be will be! Try and get as much rest as you can and let Adam weight on you which im sure he does lol x

had the 20 week scan today and it is a boy! we have (i have and adam is just gonna get used to it) decided on the name jacob.
i wasnt too happy with the consultant's reaction when we said that we wernt having any tests this time around, she looked at us as if we were crazy and actually asked why we have decided against the tests!! she also didnt look at my notes as she got it wrong. she thought that i was just high risk in my first pregnancy. we had to correct her when she said 'your little boy is ok'
ARGH why do people who have outdated views on downs syndrome work in the antenatal clinics? it is obvious they are going to come across some people like us who have had a child with downs and are having another baby!! or even people who have a confirmed downs pregnancy.

Congratulations on having a boy, lovely name you've chosen, i'm sure Adam will learn to like it too lol. Sorry to hear that your consultant was a bit of a dinassaur, makes me mad that they can be so negative when this is such a special and exciting time for you xx

AWWWW!!! CONGRATULATIONS!! How lovely that Joshua's going to have a lil bro!! (seen a t'shirt in next that says "lil bro" if i have another boy!!lol)
As for the consultants/midwives etc they dont really have a clue do they,i was reading a leaflet that said if you find out your baby has downs you can consider a termination or if you keep the baby have counselling???it all seems so outdated to me,they want me to have the amnio at 16 wks,im havibg the bloods but thats it,what will be will be we've coped before and if we needed to we will again!! (my bloods with Aaliyah at 24 were 1 in 450!
Cant wait till may 6th for my 20 wk scan pink or blue pink or blue!!lol

A boy , how lovely - Jacob is agreat name. I had my 2 boys first & they were great together & still are, Mark the eldest really looks out for his younger brother Jason all be it from a distance ,ones in Durham & ones in Somerset. Yet another professional with no idea what they're talking about - I wonder when things will change? Good on you for being so strong.

A brother for Josh, thats great news. Sooo pleased for you.
That Consultant should be spoken to, of course your boy is ok!!!! I would have gave him/her an ear bashing on triple tests, NHS funding, being so bl**dy old fashioned as well as worse birth defects!!!! Arrrrggggggghhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!
Have been looking for you on Bounty but i know how tough it can be fighting a losing battle over downs syndrome.
