Hi Calum is swimming on his own!!!! ;D ;D He has been going to a special needs class in our local swimming club for about 2 years now. Its a fun session and although he had somone in the pool with him he wasn't actually progressing any. He wore a wee swim jacket and was quite happy to have a carry on in that. 4 weeks ago he was being supervised by an 11 year old so we complained and asked why the class before him has children the same age as he is in it and they get properly taught but he is just being allowed to have a carry on. The took the whole thing on board and have sectioned off part of the pool for Calum and another little boy who can't swim and last week Calum was doing really well with and without his jacket. This week he jumped in the deep end and swam to the edge. He has also swum 2 breadths of the pool. I can't believe the difference. There wasn't a dry eye in the house when he did that all the parents were on their feet cheering him on and I was in floads. Dead proud of him tonight. He has decided that we are all going swimming later on when hubby gets in from work but only if he can have chocolate cake with tea

That's great, well done Callum - I hate swimming but keep thinking I must take Rachel before she is much older .

wow!! how come he came on so quickly? Caleb loves swimming and as sson as he is old enough he's having lessons (if I can't teach him) he would happily spend all day in the bath or the pool.

Yay well done Calum. ;D Hope mummy gave you chocolate cake for tea! I took Henri swimming the other day and he loved it . At our local pool they do parent and toddler mornings were they section of the shallow end and put in lots of floats and toys. Henri would also spend all day in the water a real wrinkled water baby.

Thanks everyone. I'm really not sure why he came on so quickly. He has been going swimming since he was 5 months old on and off and has no fear at all of the water. I think perhaps we've just managed to hit it right with the timing of the lessons.
Yup he did get his chocolate cake, well deserved too.
