Hello Everyone,
You may or may not already be aware of this but here goes.
We have received the disability element of Tax Credits since Cai was awarded Middle Rate Care DLA at 9 months. However, when he turned 3 he was awareded Higher Rate Care & Higher Rate Mobility.
I did not know until today that this meant a change in our Tax Credits. Apparently if your child moves from middle care to higher then you claim a higher rate of the disability element (approx £1000 a year).
I've asked if this can be back dated to April 07 but they've refused as can only backdate any claims for 3 months. So watch out - make sure you're receiving the right amount.
They are sending an appeal leaflet to me as they don't state anywhere in their literature to inform them of a change like this - don't fancy my chances but who knows.
