Well, after so many months of NOTHING happening we seem to have a million appointments in the next few weeks! I'm run ragged at the minute with all the places that I take Thomas (which is why i'm not often on this site anymore!).
This afternoon we have a Cardiology app. Thomas' first since the beginning of December. I'm holding my breath hoping that he hasn't developed any valve leakage since then......Fingers crossed....
On Monday we have FINALLY got Thomas' hearing test. We still don't know how sever his hearing problem is so hopefully this should give us more info.
On 12th March is the biggy! His developmental assessment infront of the 'panel'. I'm not too sure of what to expect from this but the special needs health visitor came out to see me last week and told me that this is where it all begins for Thomas. I'm quite excited by this! lol.
I'll keep you all posted......

I was nervous about Daniel's assessment too, but it was really great! The people there were so positive and I felt I was doing something good because we left armed with all sorts of activities to help Daniel. I'm glad you are finally getting your appointments Good luck xx

Thanks everyone. Well, Thomas saw his cardiologist today who was absolutely AMAZED by how healthy (i.e fat! ha ha) Thomas is! His ultrasound was perfect and he has no leaks or anything! We don't have to go back for 4 months now!!!! I was sooo happy I almost cried.

Just got back from Thomas' hearing test and am feeling a bit fed up! We're no nearer to getting answers. The test that they do on newborns wouldn't work for Thomas as he's a really noisy breather (thanks to a permenantly ruttly chest!) and wouldn't keep still. His ears are too small to examine properly so they have no idea whats in them (eeurgh!) and during the distraction test he wouldn't turn to look at them! They say that this is due to his delayed develpment cos of his Downs but I think he was just being lazy! lol. We've got to wait for another app now where they wll try(!!) to do the brain stem test. For this Thomas would need to be asleep and stay asleep for around 40 minutes! Fat chance! Just feel like we're going backwards on this one and we don't know if Thomas can hear or not. I could cry.......

thats very miserable for you - when will they do all these things? How come they didn't do this when he was a baby - Caleb had them done at days old - they seem to do them on all babies.
Do you think he can hear? whats your gut instinct?

Aww Dont worry Vicki, I bet he turns his wee head when his mummy talks to him. Stupid tests are annoying. Its like when the physio comes to see Grace, she hardly does anything for her but with me she is always trying so hard. Hope the next appointment isnt to far away, sending you loads of hugs xxxxx

Hi try not to worry to much, like shirley said babies don't like to perform on demand! Brodie's not very co-operative at his hearing tests either, he hates them looking in his ears and we only managed to do the distraction test successfuly last time he went and he was 2, even then it was a bit hit and miss whether he was gonna look or not! i've just come to the conclusion he's a typical man and has selective hearing! lol Hope all goes well next week x
