got Saul's D.A this week to see how his doing. Should help us get the info they need for the statement for school. Going to mention the fact we've only had 2 hours of speech therapy in a whole year. The therapist is supposed to be at the school so his one to one can learn too, but has been off sick for 10 weeks, so far nothing. I've taken up trying to teach him to read words i know he can say he's starting to recognise mum, dad and bread. he tried to read my friends baby a book the other week but she wasn't allowed to touch it until he'd shown and told her what was under each flap. he also makes Tai sign things.
His Starting to have some Occupational therapy each week now to help with fine motor skills. She mentioned looking at potty training and getting someone to see about his behaviour.

Well had the assessment last week. Speech therapist is still off sick, even got a letter telling me so this morning! The paediatrician was pleased with how his doing, and she's suggested Saul does 3 days at nursery and 2 days at a special needs nursery called head start. He'd be in a class of 6 with 4 makaton trained teachers. That way he should learn to speak and sign better as thats what they'd concentrate on, but still be able to learn from 'typical' children at his nursery. He could repeat nursery next year but then the following yr he'd go straight into year 1 and miss reception as the government like to keep age groups together! So instead he should be able to do reception and 2 days at head start. just waiting to hear from the schools advisory service about the best school to send him to and then we can start filling in the statement. He did his nativity play on friday. Spent most of it stunned that Rob and i were there. We recorded it and played it back when we got home, so Saul did the actions to the songs then children lol
