well as the title says poor little charlie has only been waiting over 2 years for his grommets and they rang 2day to say the anaesthetist will not anaesthetise him due to his lung disease and previous anaesthetic problems, the annoying thing is the ENT cons knew all about these and said it wasn't a problem so now he has to wait for an appointment from sheffields childrens hospital.we were hoping he would get them done before we go to florida.i know they are only being wary and have his best interests at heart but it is sooooooooo annoying when you have arranged time off and childminders. sorry rant over xxxxxxxxxx p.s has anyone got experience with sheffield childrens hospitals icu ?

I know the feeling Hunni. As you know Holster should have had her reapir done AGES ago, but they are being careful and taking their time. Doesn't help when Mum and Dad have psyched themselves up for it and they turn around and say no Fingers crossed Sheffield come back to you nice and quick

Oh I was wondering when you were getting your car, you will have to post a picture of it when you get it, before the kids get there sticky fingers all over it lol !!!
Hope you get word soon about little charlie and in the meantime at least you have the holiday to look forward to. We are going to book a week in september in benidorm, not as fancy as florida but we sooooo need a holiday. Never thought we would get this year with Graces op but since it came sooner than we thought we can now. Was looking at little bikinis for her the other day and they are soo cute, cant wait to show her off !!!

Hi Pinkshell Sorry to hear Charlie's appt was cancelled, that's really annoying after you've psyched yourselves up for it. Harrison has glue ear and we were hoping that he'd have grommets but they had a look last month and couldn't do it yet because his ear canal is still too small. I know this is going off at a tangent, but does Charlie have hearing aids? Harrison has some but I can't get him to wear them, he's become an expert at lobbing them across the room or chewing them! We're looking in to trying a 'softband BAHA' hearing aid which we've been told can sometimes work better for children with ds (it goes around the head on a band) so grateful to hear about any experiences folks have had with these. Have a wonderful time in Florida, I'm really envious as I love it there

hi lisa charlie's ear canals have been to small too we have had 2 wait 2 years for him to grow he is still the size of about 9 month baby , he had hearing aids from about 12 months but he is just the same as Harrison they lasted about 20 seconds lol we discoveed that charlie lip read at about 18 months so we just focus on his face when talking and he manages just brilliant but of course he does llike most males have selective hearing ,the hospital did suggest taping the hearing aides in but i wouldn't do it , way to cruel .
