Hi everyone
My in-laws told me about this site after reading the article in the South Wales Echo, and only today did they remember what the website was called!!
My name is Amanda (33) and I'm married to Carl (almost 9 years although been together since I was 18 and he was 22). We've got 2 little boys -Jacob is almost 3 1/2 and Morgan will be 11 months in a couple of days' time.
Morgan has DS, and along with that a hearing loss (don't get me started on those damned hearing aids), hyperthyroidism (which seems to be improving), severe reflux (lots of medicines), has had surgery for Pyloric Stenosis & umblilcal hernia repair (but hernia came back), and a bad chest. He's been in hospital several times this winter with bronchiollitis and chest infections, and this morning has another bad cold after just about seeing off another chest infection last week. (Oh and he's a premie too, born at 32 weeks at 2lb 11oz). I think that covers it. And despite all that, he's a perfect baby with a wonderful temperament and very cheeky.
I've learned an awful lot about DS in a relatively short time and am an active member of the DS-UK e-mail group, which I find invaluable.
After having a year off, I'm returning to work in 2 weeks' time. I haven't a clue how that will go, as you don't know from one minute to the next what Morgan's health is like, but I like work and it's only down the road, so can rush home if need be (don't tell Carl I said that as he's in charge when I'm out).
Hope to get to know you all better soon, although I have to limit the amount of time I "waste" in front of the computer, as before you know it you've lost 3 hours and you only went to look at your e-mails!!
Great idea setting this up. I don't know what I would have done without the web and my cyber friends.
Take care, Amanda
