Hi I read your article in Pick Me Up magazine. I am 41 years old and work supporting a 5 year old with Downs. I hope you dont mind me joining your site as I am not a parent of a downs child but love him to bits and am trying to find any info that can help him and me in any way. I work at a mainstream school supporting this little boy. We haven't had another downs child so it is a learning curve for all of us.

that is no problem trottie - i think it would be beneficial not only for you - learning about downs, but i think it is also going to be beneficial for the parents on this site as we now have a few of school age - it would be interesting to hear about the sort of work you do

Well I work with a 5 year old called Dylan who has downs, I have been working in reception class for the past 12 months supporting him in all aspects of school life. This school year both Dylan and I will be staying in Reception. At the end of term behaviour was a bit of a problem but it is a new school year beginning so who knows lol. We also have a little difficulty with communication, although I can usual understand what he wants. He is very bright and loveable
