hi ladies as the title says i really am at the end of my tether, has anyone got any tips? charlie wont sleep! he goes to bed bout 8 -830,goes off really well then wakes up about 12,for bout an hour ,then goes off again for a couple of hours then wakes for another couple of hours and so on,sometimes he just lays and talks to himself but mostly he sits slappin and pinching us,then kissing and licking us,sometimes he just whines and cries for 2 -3 hours! we tried ignoring him but makes no difference,we dont have a room to put him in on his own. the gp prescribed phenergan but it made no difference,he's been like this since last september when he started nursery,he has maybe slept through about 5-6 times since then and we are so exhausted he has always been a fantastic sleeper,so really cant understand it,he is never hungry or thirsty when he wakes, sometimes he wants us to sing nursery rhymes to him ! anyone have similar problems or any ideas would be gratefully received thank you love shell xxxxxxx

hiya shell georgia went through a phase of this when she started mainstreem nursery. Her special needs school said they thought it might of been that they were trying to get her to do too much and it was over stimulating her so her brain was more active meaning she wouldnt sleep. They had a word and they stopped trying to do so much with her and she started sleeping again! This might not be whats happening with charlie its just a thought. I hope he starts sleeping through for you soon cuz i know how tiring it is most days i was like a zombie!!
nikki xx
just read through that again hope it makes sense lol

Hi Shell, Sorry to hear Charlie isn't sleeping well - you must all be exhausted (understatement!). Harry is generally a good sleeper apart from waking up so darn early! But he does sometimes have similar nights when he wakes up and when he's awake that's it - loads of energy and wanting to play!! I've tried lots of things but I found the only thing that works with Harry if he wakes up in the night is to leave him on his own in his bed, then he eventually will go off to sleep again. It may sound a bit cruel but he normally just lays there and chats to himself until eventually he nods off again. He shares a room with his brother Sam and occasionally Sam will come in and wake me up saying that Harry has climbed into bed with him and wants to play, lol. When that happens we let Sam come into bed with us and then leave Harry in his room and he eventually goes off to sleep again (either in his own bed or Sams!). Maybe when they start school in September they'll be so tired that Charlie will start sleeping through again! Good luck with it and hope you manage to get some sleep soon xxx

Oh you poor thing! I totally sympathise. Lack of sleep is sooooo bad. Its even harder when you don't have a separate room as well. Ruby is still in with us and when she has a bad night we have left the room and left her to it - surprise surprise she slept!! Not promising that will work for you as all kids are different. One of mine did not sleep through till she was 5- that was NOT meant to depress you.
Hope you manage to come up with a cunning plan soon!

Have you spoke to your portage worker/health visitor/Paed?
Theres a charity here in Scotland called Sleep Scotland and I know a few people who have seen them.
Thankfully Cameron is still in a cot, when he wakes he can't go anywhere, I'm dreading the day hes in a bed.
Hopefully Charlies turned a corner
