Jack gets invited to do allsorts through an early development centre we attend once a week, today we have been to a Pirate themed morning with music, singing, signing and play -he LOVED it!! we also go swimming free of charge and are visiting a donkey sanctuary for rides at the weekend. He always seems to have something going on. We are kinda unusual in our area that there are several kids with ds all around the same age 1-3, jack has 2 friends both with ds that we see every week at least once, so its really great they have these experiences together. Does anyone else have opportunities like we get?? It seems there is a lot of charity money available and out there for people to use and we have been so fortunate that these charities have found us!!
Sorry for rambling - hope it makes some sort of sense!!!

yeah its the same thing, you will probably be able to find out about things through them, thats where we started, Jack would have been the same age as Laura when he started at the centre.

After Elliott was born within 8 weeks another 4 babies in our area were born with ds. We all get to take part in group physiotherapy sessions as well as one to ones, which are great. We also get together for our little ones to see each other and for a chat. We also go along to our local downs group where we organize day trips out and at the moment a Xmas party. Elliott's social life is better than mine! His 1st birthday is on the 17th of November closely followed by all the others so a busy time partying coming up for us.

We go to a theraplay group each week , all the children that attend have different sorts of problems/disabilities. We have only met one other child with DS of a similar age to Rachel, but he hasn't always been, as he is being treated for leukaemia & is often poorly, but they get on well together when they are both there. I have joined our local DS group but they don't seem to do support in early years seem to concentrate on fundraising to pay for extra speechtherapy as the children get older. We go to a 'regular' mums & toddler group on a wed where Rachel has great fun , i have lots of conversations with mums about DS so i guess we're both educating & informing whilst making new friends. I think it must really help to have a group of friends & children wih similar ages, still that's why this group has been so much of a help.

Hi it sounds like Jack has a great social life. We go to the Child Development Centre on a Friday morning but they don't do any trips from there. We are members of our local Downs support group so we do get some social events with them. The year that George was born there was 7 babies with ds born between Feb and July in our area then hardly any since, its strange how it seems to happen in runs. Its nice though that they will grow up having lots of friends - George has already got his future wife lined up for when he is older - a little girl called Cari lol, although she made him cry at his birthday party when she kissed him in his new tunnel lol, xxxx
