Hi everyone! My name is Mary Jane and I am mommy to my sweet Caroline Josephine who just happens to have Down syndrome. She was born on July 17, 2008, the day after my 44th birthday. We call her Carly for short. We didn't know in advance that she had DS and found out when she was born. We didn't have any testing done that would endanger my pregnancy because we knew it wouldn't make a difference if she had Down syndrome or not. All that mattered was that she was our daughter and we loved her! She is the sweetest little girl in the whole wide world (except when she doesn't want to go to bed - LOL!). I hope you don't mind that I joined your group. I was doing a search on the internet to find info about Down syndrome kids using walkers and one of the posts on your board showed up in my search! I am attempting to attach a photo of my sweet little girl! I hope I did it right! Attachments:

Thanks so much for the warm welcomes!
As far as a walker for Carly, I sent her therapist an e-mail asking if we should look into getting one and this is what she wrote back:
"as far as adaptive equipment goes for Miss. Carly right now it is not the right time. She is beginning to show some really nice new skills like getting into hands and knees and rocking. We want to work on strengthening those skills and building on them to help her start pulling to stand, cruising, etc."
Interesting. Looks like we will be meeting with her on April 1st.
Hope you all are having a WONDERFUL day...or evening...or whatever it is where you are! LOL!
