Hi - hope everyone is well.
I haven't posted for a very long time but am after a little help and hoped somebody here may know a little more.
Cai is now 6yrs old, full of beans but still no real speech, just vowel sounds (when he wants too!).
We have requested he be assessed for Dyspraxia as I beliveve there is something else stopping his speech, as his understand is brill. He gets very frustrated when we don't understand his signs or gestures.
We get the results at a meeting with SALT tomorrow but am interested to know if anybody else has been through this. Does anyones DS or DD also have Dyspraxia? I would welcome the chance to find out a little more about their assessment as have a feeling we're not being taken seriously so far. However, will probably know more tomorrow.
Thanks for listening guys - I am hoping whatever we are told it will mean we will be able to move forward with some clear targets and hopefully the means to tackle them now.
x

Hi Sorry i don't know much about dyspraxia, but would be very interested to hear how it goes. My Harry has just had his 6th birthday and he has hardly any speech but i also feel his understanding is great. Harry has glue ear + his muscles are v.floppy so i had put the lack of speech down to that but would love to hear how you get on. xx
