;D OK I was having this one with my family. What is the correct terminology?? My Daughter HAS Downs Syndrome Or My Daughter IS Downs Syndrome? I say is... Cus it is part of her genetic makeup, its not like she caught it off someone (I know the FIL would love it to be the case...PMSL) Am I right or wrong, or do you say something totally different

Hi
I think it is HAS downs syndrome because holly is a little girl before the downs syndrome.
What does everybody else think?

Sorry ril, I'm with the others.....I always say 'has' downs, as I feel if someone says Lisa 'is' downs then that's all she is (iyswim)
Well to be honest, if anyone says to me 'oh she is downs' then I say, 'well actually, no...she is a little girls who happens to have downs'
The debate goes on......lol!!

OOO different...LOL
I know that she is a little girl before the Downs, but to me saying she IS Downs gives her ownership of it. It is part of who she is and there is no way of changing that, so instead of he being defensive about it she embraces the fact that she IS Downs.
Do you know what I mean??
Or am I just really odd??? PMSL Please don't answer that one. tee hee... LOL
