Evening all!
My names Erica and Im mummy to 2 gorgeous boys- Ethan whos 5 and Harry who's 8.5months, Harry has down sydrome, fallots tetralogy and complete AVSD, he's doing fab though! The heart specialist is hoping to get him to around 16-18months before surgery but we're just waiting and seeing iykwim! Its scarey stuff but just taking each day as it comes - we didnt know Harry had downs before he was born,I had all the tests and was classed as low risk and had 4 scans due to previous fertility probs and his heart probs were never picked up.I was angry/upset for a while, I felt and still do occasionally feel helpless over his heart probs and feel so sorry for him having to have the surgery, I do have to have words with myself sometimes!!
Im glad ive found this place, Hopefully you'll be able to help me cling onto my sanity when times are tough, and Ill hopefully be able to do the same in return!
Look forward to getting to know you all xxx

hi nice to see you here - don't worry, you don't have to wait for your name to appear! I have a little boy who is just 8 months old so our boy must be pretty close in age! My boy is Caleb and fortunatley he doesn't have any heart probs but we also didn't know about the Downs before he was born - bit of a shock! Can't wait to hear more from you and see some pics perhaps??? This site has been a lifeline to me and hope you can become part of our happy community - we even have some unborn babies here - how exciting!

Hi Erica I'm new to the site too, my youngest son Harrison has DS, he has just had his third birthday. He had 4 holes in the heart at birth + narrowed aorta which he had surgery for at 6 months. It's amazing what these wonderful surgeons can do these days! Look forward to getting to know you and your fam. x

Hi Erica
I'm pretty new to this site too. I am currently 22 weeks pregnant, this is my first baby and she's a girl called Jasmine who also has DS. Can't wait for her to arrive and change my life for the better.
So whereabouts in Cheshire are you? I'm in Knutsford. I'd love to know if you are a member of any local support groups as I've been trying to find out which are closest.
Look forward to hearing all about you and your lovely family.
Take care,
Lucy

Im not involved with any local support gps as tbh I dont think there are any close by-not in our little town anyway and as I dont drive yet its tough to get to places (and I wouldnt like to go on my own as Im a bit shy til I get to know people!)

Hi Erica, and a big welcome to you and your family. I'm Claire and mum of two. Esme is 7 and George is nearly 1. George was born with ds and like you we didn't find out til after he was born. He was born with a complete AVSD and had open heart surgery to correct this on 21st December 06 when he was 6 months old. He recovered really quickly, its amazing how strong our babies are. Your precious boy looks a picture of health so I'm sure he will be just the same. Look forward to seeing more photo's of your two boys x
