Well, Harry starts his new nursery on Wednesday (one of them anyway, he's going to do a split placement between a special needs nursery and a mainstream nursery attached to our local school). Yesterday was his last day at a nursery he's been attending for the past 18 months, he would go on a thursday and friday when I'm at work. He's going to get 1 to 1 support at his new mainstream nursery, and the other nursery has 3 staff and only 6 children so I know it will be better for him but still felt a bit sad yesterday. I didn't think I would blub when he left his old nursery but the manager told me how sad they are were to say good-bye to him and on came the waterworks! Then when I went to pick him up at the end of the day a couple of the staff (who I have to be honest were his favourites!) had made him a card and stuck lots of photos of him on it with his friends and having cuddles with everyone and they'd written some lovely messages I'm sure he will be fine when he starts his new nursery on wednesday but I'm bound to be a bit wobbly! I think I will have to have a supply of tissues with me

Thanks everyone, the first day was a bit of an ordeal - Harry cried himself to sleep and then slept for 2 hours and as each session is only 2 hrs 30 mins it was a bit of a right off! The good news though is that yesterday he only cried a bit and then managed to enjoy himself, today when I left him he only cried for a couple of minutes and then apparently he had a wonderful time (what a relief!) He has a lovely lady who is there just for him and he seems to have bonded with her already which puts my mind at rest. So the mainstream nursery looks like its going to be ok but things are never straight forward are they! Last night I got a call from the lady who runs the special needs nursery he was due to start on monday (as a split placement with his mainstream nursery). Anyway, she's decided that she can't let Harry attend on a monday and tuesday now as there are a couple of children in the group who have serious behavioural probs, one of them throws furniture across the room, and it wouldn't be safe for Harry to be there. So now they are moving him to the thursday and friday sessions instead (and we've swapped mainstream to the beginning of the week), and he will now be in a group with just 2 other children, but they're children with much more complex needs than Harry and now I'm questioning again if I've made the right decision I've been told he will get lots of one on one help with his speech though and I know he needs this, mainstream is great but Harry has had so many probs I think he needs more than that. I didn't sleep very well last night worrying but today I've decided to keep on open mind and see how things go. At least Harry seems to like his mainstream nursery now so I'm feeling relieved about that. Plus this stress is doing wonders for my waistline, I think I've lost half a stone in the last few weeks!
