Been a very hectic few days - Daniel was taken to hospital with croup. It was very scary (Craig is away as well) as Daniel couldnt breath and was getting distressed, vomiting and coughing like a seal. I ended up calling an ambulance (doctor said it was a chest infection...) He's back now after 3 days there and is ok. Anyway, I wanted to say thanks to pinkshell ( I'm pretty sure it was her but might be wrong!) as I had read about her charlie getting croup on a thread here, and bizarrly it made me feel reassured and understand a bit about it. I said to the doctor that I thought it was croup as I remember Pinkshell talking about the distinctive cough, and I just had a feeling we'd have to go to hospital. So... thank you!!! xxx

We have been having much the same probs with our angel kacie, it started when she was admitted a few months ago with Pneumonia and since then she has been having reccuring chest infections and coughing, which has recently started to become more of a barking cough, our GP said it was a chest infection and URTI, but if it carries onmuch longer (shes been coughing for aobut 10 days now) we will drop her in at the hospital and get the paeds to check her out, glad that daniel is feeling better now.

hope little kacie gets well soon, we are having the same problems again now, and poor little jasmin is the same she has been ill for 8 days now and no sign of improvement, she is vomiting when coughing we have been to the gp twice and both times he said there is no infection, when i said she hadn't eaten anything for a week he said it will do her no harm, i mean i know she is a chunky monkey but surely its doing her no good ,if no better in the morning i will take her back agian, little charlie only started yesterday but no doubt it will take him 2 weeks to get over it ,it always takes him twice as long bless him, if he still has high temp in the morning i will just pop to hospital, we do have open access for him and they know him well so it is just so much easier Glad daniel is lots better sarah xxxxxxx

Although of course not the main reason as loads of children get infections/croup etc, but kids with DS can have much smaller airways (and more floppy bits in their throats as the doc said!!) I'm not usually someone who makes a fuss ( I got told off for NOT buzzing the midwifes enough when I was in having Daniel!!) but I know think making a fuss is well worth it!!! I would def go to the hospital to get things checked out - better to know whats going on. The doc at the hospital was very cross that my Gp had said Daniel had a chest infection so you never know! Good luck to both of you xxx
