This is what my county council say about blue badges. www.gloucestershire.gov.uk/index.cfm?articleid=6129Michelle I found carers allowance quite easy to apply for, but I only did it last night on line so still waiting to hear back they have requested my wage slips to be sent in. Keeping my fingers crossed

Hi Karen, just to say I don't know about Anita but mine took 7 weeks so don't give up hope, you should get something but it does seem to vary , I think its whoever is reading your form! Susan

Hi Karen I posted mine on the 28th Feb had a letter to say that they had recieved it and on the 22nd had another letter to say we had got it, so mine was done quite quick. As Susan say's it depends on who is reading your form.

Karen that's exactly what happened to us, they told us they were writing to Rachel's consultant- I guess they must have but I didn't do anything to check if that actually happened.

Hello everyone. I have read up on line about carers allowance (Rosanna is on middle rate DLA at the moment but have the form to apply for higher rate as her needs have increased with needing oxygen at night etc). It says that your other benefits can be affected if you get carers allowance. Does that mean they will reduce my DLA? Or my tax credit? Its rather annoying as cos my tax credit went up when i had Rosanna they have reduced our housing benefit to an almost non existent rate! In fact they have said they have over paid us and we owe them money! Cant afford to 'lose' any more money. Have been trying to contact them by phone today without success as they are always so busy! It seems what they give with one hand they take away with another! Thanks Michelle x

hi michelle,i doesn't affect your DLA or tax credit, it affects things like incapacity benefit, pensions and such like there should be a list in the lttle booklet that comes with your form hun .hope it helps love shell, charlie and jasmin xxxxxxxxx

bad news pinkshell - Carers allowance does affect your tax credits! I called tax credit helpline and although DLA does not count as income the carers allowance does! What a pain. I should still be a little better off though so am going to apply. Michelle x

I have had a letter back about carers allowance and I have been refused beacuse of my earnings. Also I informed Tax Credits and it looks like it hasn't made a differance there either. Never mind.
