Hi everyone,
I wasn't sure whether to post this onto General Ramblings or Mum's because it's a bit of both... Being as Jasmine is still blissfully ignorant to the outside world and content to wriggle for England inside her Mum's tummy... all is clearly well with her! (Have posted seperately about 32 week scan in appointments)
As for me, am much less anxious than a few weeks ago but still aprehensive about our future although things are coming together and I'm starting to feel much more prepared. Here's a quick update on whats been happening....
Hospital scare - I had to visit the hospital a couple of weeks ago and spent the day in A&E followed by being admitted to a ward... Having awful chest pains which the doctor was concerned may be a blood clot, after lots of tests was given the all clear, basically Jasmine is just taking up too much space and squashing all my organs, apparently I will have to get used to the pains until she either moves much lower to relieve the pressure or arrives.
Antenatal Classes - Went to my first class yesterday whcih was all about labour... I have to be honest, that's one thing I just haven't wanted to think about, my philosophy is that she has to come out some time and one way or another so why worry about it.... Just my way of coping with not wanting to contemplate the whole experience.... I even joke that we have an agreement that she's just going to stay where she is as we're perfectly happy as we are! Lol. But the class was great, didn't tell me much that I haven't read or been told but I think having the whole experience and process explained has made me more comfortable with it all. Add to that the whole meeting other Mum's to be, I don't know anyone or have any friends close to home who are Mum's, it was quite reassuring to know that I'm not completely alone with how I feel about it all.
I've also been in touch with a few local Mum's who have babies and childrens with Downs and have had a good few chats and agreed to meet a few when I go on Mat leave.
New home - Just as of yesterday I have secured a new little home for me and Jasmine, much more practical than my existing place and perfect for the two of us, she'll have her own little room which I really wanted. Won't move in until a couple of weeks after her arrival but have plenty of time to get everything settled before she makes an appearance. I can't tell you how much of a relief that is, I could have gone back to my Mum's but really wanted to be independant and start my new life with her in our own little place.
Think that's the main events for now. 49 days to go until due date.... not sure if we'll get that far before I get to hold little Jasmine but am actually starting to feel maternal! lol
Catch you all soon,
Lucy xxx
