Hi everyone,
Sorry that I haven't been on that much lately, just getting into the swing of being a Mum and the days seem to fly by. Thought I'd give an update on how me and Jasmine are doing. Unfortunately we've both had stinking colds but are on the road to recovery now, obviously it didn't help Jasmine's breathing difficulties and she was off her milk for a few days but she seems alot better now.
I saw the pediatrician just over a week ago and it seemed to go well. No hearing or eyesight difficulties detected as yet. She didn't seem too concerned about Jasmine's breathing, no chest infection. She did detect the heart murmur that the doctor suspected and so has referred us to specialist at Alder hey Children's Hospital to get that checked, she told me not to worry as probably the hole in the heart that is common for Downs babies and it doesn't seem to be causing her too many problems.
We went to the South Manchester Downs Support Group on Friday. It was nice to meet other Mum's and little ones and they shared some stories which were really positive. Am also going to try to get to the Cheshire meeting at the sensory centre where they have lights and music to stimulate the children. I suspect Jasmine will love it as she is very alert (I like to call her nosey!)
Jasmine is still sleeping very well at night, usually between 7 and 9 hours.... I know, I am lucky. However, it does mean that she won't settle or sleep much in the day time so she can be quite demanding, she's getting a little personality now and knows what she wants... generally attention!
She is smiling albeit she is quite sparing with her smiles. I usually get one in the morning when I first talk to her and pick her up, also she smiles when she gets her own way, such as when she doesn't want to go down in her moses basket and winges until she gets picked up again... cheeky monkey!
Am enjoying my time with her, hope she would say the same although I'm not sure she is that loyal to her mum as yet, cupboard love springs to mind.... she doesn't care who looks after her so long as someone does.
Am going to attempt to post some more recent pics now.
Take care all,
Lucy & Jasmine xxx
