Amber has got an appointment for a sleep study on the 4th July.
She has a lot of difficulties getting to sleep and even more staying sleeping, or staying confortable enough to sleep.
she is really restless and and is up and down and round the bed many times, comes to my bed and the same continues. She often wakes with a fright.
She had her tonsills and adenoids out and grommets inserted almost 7 months ago to try and alleviate the problem. The ENT consultant/surgeon, the only health professional i have trust in, told me after the op that the her tonsils and adenoids were "huge and manky", i think she had been much more uncomfortable that i knew, she has a cold virtually constantly but she does have a high pain threshold. The difference in her breathing is great but we still have the sleeping difficulties. We have been referred to this sleep study to rule out sleep apnea and other life threatening conditions as sleeping difficulties can be behavioural with DS and it may something we have to learn to live with.
The knock on effect of these sleeping difficulties are of concern obviously to me but also ENT consultant whom is taking this all very seriously, most importantly the impact of her development.
Has anyone's kids undergone this study and had good/bad or indifferent results. Does anyone have any tips for the sleeping problems, if they rule out medical associated problems i have to say i am considering getting Amber a bigger bed so she can confortably get a bigger bed ! Any tips, ideas or suggestions would be much appreciated !
