we had a visit off the phyiso lady, she is very pleased with Ethan and how much he has come on in 3m e.g head control ... how he is rolling over .... getting his feet to his month pulling his socks off ( that i put on every 5 seconds lol ).. >:( put she has asked if i can start getting him to still up ( obviously with support ) I'm just wondering what you have brought or did.. any ideas welcome
hi, I just sat Gabe in one of those blow up ring things with a chushion behind him for extra support, but I know u can get those seat like things which look like a potty seen em in mothercare dunno if they 'd be any good!
what healen is on about is a bumbo seat - we got 1 for josh and he sat in there lovely - we put him in there for a while and he eventually worked out how to get out of there (he would lean to 1 side and pull his leg under him and climb out!!) once he done that we stopped putting him in there - by then he could sit unaided
We had a bumbo for Grace, but our physio wasnt too keen on it until she got to about 6 moths so we used to hide it. Our OT ordered a corner sitter for Grace which is really great but grace didnt like it that much, It would be worth asking for one and try Ethan in it, after all it is free.
We found just sitting on the floor together facing eachother and doing Row Row Row your boat really helped to strengthen Hollys tummy muscles. Its just a matter too of letting them topple over a few times as well to learn to balance. Probably the hardest part is letting them fall, natural instinct is to grab them.
We used a blow up ring as well - really good, and also one of those breas feeding pilliows - it was quite firm, so daniel could sit quite snugly in the middle and feel secure. He also learnt to pull himself back up when he wobbled in that. Good luck!
Ethansmum, just to let you know that we also used the bumbo seat as well as the blow up ring. The only thing my physio said was to not use thew blow up ring for too long as it can make them get used to an easy fall iyswim.....saying thay, Lisa spent A LOT of time in hers lol!
And I would defo try ebay for bumbo's...they're a ot cheaper on there!
I have a right angle pillow that I used when I was pregnant, to prop me up in bed and behind me on the sofa. I sat her in the corner of that, it gave her some support but she still had to do some work to not falling over.
