Someone at cdc recommended a book to me to help George with mobility and other things. I've got one and its very good so thought I'd mention it on here - got it from an ebay shop. The book is called 'Gross Motor Skills in Children with Downs Syndrome, By Patricial C Winders.

Shirley, I hope you win the book! One of the things in there says to sit your lo on a bench so their knees are bent at 90 degrees and their feet flat on the floor. I started doing this with George next to the sofa on Monday and he;s already pulling himself up on his feet, he's really wobbly and usually falls sideways but we're really surprised how quickly he's learnt to do it. going to try something else tomorrow x
Max, what are the other books in the series? x

hi max our physio recommended this too but with a small plastic stool and we used to bribe charlie with his favourite toy ,he still uses the stool now and it only cost about £1 from poundstretchers/in store or you can use the little kiddie high back chairs we got a perfect one for his height from ikea it was designed as coloured pencils and was only about £4 , i think it's ok as long as their feet are touching the floor flat xxxxxxxxx

there is also fine motor skills and an early communication one. The gross motor skills is the easiest to follow - I'm a bit lost with the communication one at the mo!

Ive just bought this book too - thanks for the reccommendations. It looks great - really helpful to know how to 'do things properly' so that it sets them up nicely for the next milestone. xx
