Its prolly down to the fact that he has a poorly heart. He may have one of the classic Downs defect heart problems hun, and thats why they are asking if he was tested. As far as I am aware hun Amnio's are not wrong.

Hi Katy, I was told amneo's are 99.9% accurate (they prob don't say 100% to cover themselves!!), so it would be a miracle if the amneo had been wrong. It's prob a standard question that the drs ask if they suspect some kind of heart defect, I'm guessing he's making sure you have all the tests available so they can get a clear picture. xxx

Apparently in theory the amnio could miss mozaic downs - the midwife told me that the other day. (Caleb is possibly mozaic - but no definate way to tell) I didn't have the amnio but the midwife mentioned it during the conversation.

Thats when people look downs but aren't t21 or translocation (inherited downs)
Only some of the bodies celss are affected

it just means that some of the cells have the extra chromasome and some don't. It's rare but I know of 2 others in my area! One of the girls who has it doesn't look as if she has downs at all but did have heart probs, while the other little girl looks standard, with little nose and distinctive eye shape ets but has no physical problems at all - I guess it depends what the extra chromasomes affect??!! Caleb has no problems and so far is still on normal development charts with no muscle weakness so thats why the Dr keeps mentioning it. Apparently my local area might be refusing/delaying academic statements for mosaic downs kids so I'm not letting them do any more tests til Caleb has schooling stuff in place!!! (naughty mummy - but the way I see it it might make no difference at all)
