www.downsed.org/ Just to say to those who maybe new or maynot have discovered the Downs ed trust , thay are experts in the way that people /children with Downs Syndrome learn, they are a centre for research & support in education for people with Downs syndrome internationally. The actual centre is in Portsmouth & because we are fairly close , we are lucky enough to be able to attend their early intervention programme once a month , I know one other family on here does as well but haven't managed to meet up with them yet (diff days). Anyway they are putting more & more of their resources on line so you can print them off etc to use with your children , they come with an explaination ( sometimes a bit wordy) but worth looking at . They also publish research they have done etc. Plus they are very good at answering any queries you may have about education. This site is well worth a visit. Susan

Totally agree! They are brilliiant and have been a lifesaver on a number of occasions! They are so friendly and would help with allsorts - behaviour, education etc. They also do this big folder with every single milestone you could possible think of, so that you can see how your child is doing, strengths/weaknessess and where to go next - very helpful. Susan -- we should try to meet up, glad you and Rachel are are loving it. Sarah x

We are very lucky too, we don't live near Portsmouth but 2 mums in Bristol set up a speech therapy group which was initially linked to the downs ed trust's early intervention programme but is now run as a charity in it's own right. Brodie attends Speech therapy and Numicon groups there once a week and they have been brilliant, he's got so much out of them. If anyone is interested their website is: www.bristoldownsyndrometrust.org.uk/

The Downs Ed website now sell resources and the 'see and learn' reading packages are excellent visual ways of teaching reading (and starting from an early age). Do check them out! Daniel can already read some flashcards and some simple sentences! (using the resources) xx

The See and Learn reading packages are brilliant! I notice now that you can download the resources for free, would definitely recommend them! Brodie's reading has come on so well since we started using these
