Holly is 4 in Sept and we have had a lil try every now and then but she just has no idea where the wee wee comes from or how its runs down her leg. And Turds are for playing with When, how, etc... did you/will you do your lo's potty training???

You have such a way with words Ril!!!lol To be honest ive no idea where to start, seh use to love going to the toilet esp at school...anything to get her out of the classroom but shes lost interest now and will happily sit in a pull up all day!!
We...i mean i'm going to try and TAKE her everytime i go and i pee for England anyway and hopefully she'll want to go more. Weve tried big girl pants ,her own seat and step, stickers, sweets bribbery the lot but she's a stubborn lil sod and will do it when she wants and thats final!!lol Heather

Awwwww I am going to be brave and attempt both girls at the same time. I know Tara isn't 2 yet but developmentally on the potty training level they are about the same. I am kinda hoping that if Holly sees what tara does then she may copy... she might not too but we can only but try

I'm going to start soon - the school hols seem like a good time as im not working, so can concentrate on the thrills and spills of it all... My plan is that Daniel is toilet trained by the time he goes to school, so ive got just over a year to get it sorted... thats my plan anyway!!

Have been trying on and off with Brodie for quite a while now. Had a really good crack at it over Easter and thought we were pretty much there as he was only having maybe one or two accidents a week at home and he had even started going on his own, but apparently he was having more accidents at school and not making any attempt at asking to go so we had to put him back in nappies which was a shame as he seems to have gone right back now. Gonna have a good go over the holidays and see what happens, he's really good at getting number 2's in the toilet but we're not quite there with the wee yet, he seems to tell you after he's done it and then run to the toilet! If he's got a nappy on though he won't even tell you he's been so i think as long as he's wearing one he'll just keep doing it in there. As for the method i find bribary works well so he normally gets a little sweet after he goes to the loo! Good luck everyone!

We trained Tara just after xmas and Holly has shown a big interest (it didn't work trying them both together)
So going to keep trying Holly during any school holidays and see if anything triggers.

...Daniels not there yet either... he's good at sitting on the loo - says all the right words (toilet, poo, wee, finished) and has done things on the loo and is VERY pleased with himself, but he doesnt recognise when he needs to go as the times he has have been pure luck!! Hes also getting wise that if he says 'poo' that means I will take him to the loo, and he can get out of anything he doesnt want to do!! Ive had advice from 'DownsEd' (a group I go to) and they say you just have to GO FOR IT and not stop and start and be consistent ie, take them to the toilet every 20 mins. Apparently many children with downs dont start actually thinking about it UNTIL they are potty trained unlike other children who may shows signs they are ready BEFORE its started. Also some find it diffucult to communicate that they need to go... Sigh... xx

I thought that Jenna was going to start understanding a bit more last May as every time I sat her on the potty or toilet she would do it, but we are still at the same stage Jenna is at school now and still in nappies and I was so desperate for her to be in big girls pants. Last night I was in the bathroom getting her ready for her bath and she ran into my bedroom and done a wee on the floor, and when I came in she knew and pointed to the wet floor and said 'wet'... .Thankfully its a wooden floor as it was a huge wee!! easily cleaned thankfully:) Dont know what my next step is... gx

Just thought I'd update... Daniel has now said GOODBYE to nappies for good and it hasnt been as horrendous as i thought... we started in the Easter hols and said, that's it, nappies gone, and took a deep breath and went for it. The first 3 days were awful with wee everywhere all the time, but then Daniel kind of got it and goes when on the loo, knows exactly what its for etc etc... He doesnt always ask to go, but can hold it in well (we havent had an accident in the car/ out playing/shopping/friends houses) We still have occasionally accidents (usually at preschool when he is too busy!) and poos are about 50/50 but on the whole pretty dry and not as stressful as I thought! How is everyone else doing?? xx

Well done Daniel & you - we haven't hadany success yet - but I'm going to have another try in august when we're finished with portage, SLT, Ot , nursery etc. Rachel has been admiring the peppa pig pants in Tescos so I may use them as an incentive ( bribe).

Hi all, well done Sarah and Daniel thats brilliant, you must have so much patience (unlike me). I;ve bought George a potty seat this week which he likes to sit on - but with his clothes still on. The biggest problem I;ve got is where to keep it as Theo thinks its a great new toy and is always playing with it - good job George hasn't actually used it yet. I'm thinking of keeping it in the bathroom but also think I shouldn;t have bothered getting a potty and should have bought a seat to go on our toilet. George shows absolutely no sign that he needs a wee but occasionally says poo and points to his nappy, but this is when he;s constipated and trying to go which doesn;t necessarily mean he will go any time soon. I;m also wondering if I should wait until next easter or summer when Theo will be 2 and try and do them at the same time, the joys hey, there is always something xxxxxx

How's everyone getting on with the potty training?? Its something I'd like to get going with my 2 ... was hoping that maybe if Jack saw Alex using the toilet he may do it as well!!! trouble is I just dont know where to start!!!! we have had a potty around the house for a while to get them both used to seeing it and also have a seat that goes on the loo... is it better to bypass the potty and go straight for the loo??! any advice would be greatly appreaciated! xx

Hi, we are still working on this one , over the summer hols it was a disaster ( as far as i could see) although other helpful 'professionals' have told me I should have stuck at it . There was one day when we couldn't sit on any of the seats in the living room because they all had wet patches on them ! So I have regrouped my ideas yet again, I have bought a thing from 'kids kit' which can be a potty then a step up to toilet & then a toilet seat , we are going to start with using it as a potty, & hopefully work our way up to toilet use , as Rachel freaks when i sit her on the toilet BUT she will sit on the little toilets at nursery ! I think she is finally getting an awareness of when she wees , but I'm loathed to rush at it again & make it all stressful like it was in the summer.
