Lucy has her op next friday (tonsils, adenoids and grommets) I have the leaflets explaining what happens, and i know it sounds stupid, but i feel sick everytime i try and read it, tried googling and that was worse lol!! everyone says she will be ok, but i am really stressing. I'venever had an op myself, so maybe thats why. But if anyone can tell me it will be ok PLEASE DO xx

Hi Karen, Haven't got any personal experience of that particular op but i know there are quite a few on here who have and i'm sure they will be able to put your mind at rest and tell you it'll be fine. Brodie's had two op's for other things and i found it one of the most stressful times of my life, just try and keep thinking positive and how much of a difference it'll make to Lucy once it's done. Don't worry - it'll be fine! Easier said than done i know! Be thinking of you both next week x x

Caleb had his grommits done in feb and I was terrified - he however loved it and was instantly fine! His hearing is SO much better and he enjoys life so much more now. It's a quick easy op and the Dr's who do it do LOADS of them - Caleb was the first of 5 that same day! The worst bit was watching the anaesthetic kick in - but I made hubby go with him for that! It'll be over in no time and she'll be much better for it.

thank you both. I know others have been through much more serious operations and I probably sound a bit silly....
However as Lucy now has a chest infection, im not certain if it will be going ahead now. They are going to asses her tomorrow and she if she is well enough. If not they will reschedule, and i will stress all over again!!!

How did lucy get on? I hope her chest infection was ok... Daniel had his squint fixed last year (also googled it NOT a good idea!) but was a trooper - they let me and my hub take him down to the aneasthetic room and be there when he woke up (the worst bit I think). He just slept after it and then immediatly asked for food! It is scary (for mums!) as our instinct is to protect, but as Tina said, just think of the improvements it will make to Lucys life xxx

thanks for all the encouragement! However the surgery was cancelled as they wouldn't do it while she had a bad chest so i've got to wait for another appointment and i will start stressing all over again haha

Hi Karen.. sorry the op was cancelled and the stress will start all over again for you, but please try not to get to worked up as our children are so strong, nothing really phases them. Jenna had her tonsils and adenoids out, and as the other girls say it is getting put to sleep that is the worst part. When we went to see Jenna in the ward she was sitting up fine and was pleased to see us. She could eat as well which was a suprise as I got my tonsils out when I was 21 and I cried eating rice krispies..lol... She was maybe a bit out of sorts about a week later when the healing process started but she was a wee trogen. Good luck to you and Lucy gx
