Rachel recently had an appt with the orthoptist , who was really pleased with her in that she's holding her eye nice & straight for distance but is still squinting when looking at close things .... so they're going to try her with bi-focals . We've had the eye test with the opticians & we're just waiting for them to ring & say the glases are ready to be picked up ....... i just don't know how she'll get on with them ??

How's Rachel getting on with her glasses now? Brodie got bi-focals around the same time but we can't get him to keep them on for very long at all! Really need to work at it now though as at his check up last week they said he's developed a squint since they last saw him and the glasses will really help. Hope you're having more success!

Hi , Rachel has been getting on really well with her bi -focals , she seems to use them properly, she has always been very good at keeping the specs on & she has been the same with these. We saw the orthoptist at the end of august when she'd only had them a couple of weeks but they were really pleased with her in them , they couldn't get her to squint at all when she was wearing them where as before she was squinting looking at things up close . But I think we're just lucky , cos we really haven't done anything magic to get her to keep the glasses on,she wears them nearly all day & if she takes them off she folds them up neatly & puts them somewhere safe like the floor or the seat of a chair !

I'm impressed, perhaps she can come and give Brodie some lessons! He also just leaves them randomly lying around waiting to be broken - glad i took out the insurance on them as we were onto our 2nd pair after the first week and that's without him even really wearing them!

Yes we are really lucky - I was abit confused as to why you'd had to take out insurance on Brodie's specs , whenever Rachel has bent hers & she has broken the arms off a couple of times , the opticians repair them free of charge , they just get me to sign a form which says they've done the repairs . They don't do it for bends , those they fix on the spot for us.

Oooooh I am just waiting for a phone call to get Caleb's first pair of specs. I'd put money on him flinging them across the room within seconds....
