Hi everyone,
Just thought i'd introduce myself, my name is Karin and i am the lucky single mum of Amber, who has DS and will be 4 in September.
I was told that this site was a great place to go for information from a friend, whom is a member, and thought i'd join up. I beleive that information and forward planning is they key to getting things running smoothly for Amber and so far, this has worked, just really looking for somewhere i can find out more and i can share what i've already learned. I'll give a brief run-down on us.
Amber is a wee cracker. We've been through a lot, Amber was born in Holland so has a dual nationality and we have been living in Scotland now for nearly 2 years. The transition was very difficult for both of us and the bureacracy that goes with it nothing but a nightmare. However, we have gotten through it and we are now in a better place that we were before. Amber has come on leaps and bounds in the last 2 years. She has a wonderful personality which now shines though to everyone. She had a very slow start but has most definity made up for it now. she has more that 100 signs, her speech has come on fantastically in the last 3-4 months, her mobility is fab although we do work a lot on her balance. She is very independant, her favourite word being wait, with the sign, at the most worrying times !!! She is the most wonderful girl and i am sooooooo proud that she is mine !!!!!
Looking forward to sharing with you all, i'll work out how to put a photo on my profile as soon as i find some time !!!
