Hi , well they have agreed that Rachel will have a statement & we have now got our appendix A to complete , obviously there is not enough space on it for all the info , so did you all start off on the official form or what ? I haven't written anything & I'm already in a tiswas about it . I've asked Downsed for a report . Any helpful tips gratefully received x Susan

Hello! We downloaded it, so we could type it up, then there's no limits to your word count!! My only advice is to do little bits each night, or at least in rough - my hub and I did an hour most nights - sometimes it was only a few bits, other times we were on fire! At first, hub refused to believe it would take 6 weeks, and got annoyed because it was another time restriction, but it did actually take a while until we were happy with it - there's so much to include. Also don't be afraid to repeat things within different headings. One other tip that we were given (by a SEN inclusion officer) is to write the bits, and then bullet point the main parts at the end of each section - that's apparently what the person reading it will do, so why not do it for them? And link back to why that means they will need extra help at school. What hours would you like to get for Rachel? I was also advised to go for maximum and be quite clear about what you wanted, as it seems they always reduce the hours you want. I had a number in my mind that I would be happy with... and of course it depends on the school Rachel will go to - ours said that Daniel could have full time support even if the statement didn't. Phew! I found the whole thing pretty upsetting as you do have to be negative, but its to get the best for them Happy to help, Sarah xx
