OK folks, I need help!!!! Jasmine's behaviour is starting to become more and more destructive and I'm not sure how to resolve the issue. At first I put everything down to 'typical toddler' behaviour, maybe a little bit of frustration added into the mix and most likely just a 'phase'. I now feel as though I just can't handle her sometimes and she is strarting to misbehave at nursery! Some things are to be epected such as tantrums and shouting when she can't get her own way... however she does all sorts of naughty things just for attention and it drives me insane, individually they sound little and insignificant, maybe empty the kitchen cupboards or throw all her clothes over the floor, switch the washing machine on, empty the trash(onto the floor), spill her juice (onto the floor), however, all of these in close succession throughout the day with absolutely no respite is a little too much. Then we have the smacking (both adults and children).... she will do something naughty and I know she knows it's wrong because she will shout for me and say 'aww mess Mummy', then I'll tell her off and she'll say 'sorry Mummy, kiss!'.... it's obviously all for attention but nothing I do seems to make a difference. As we all know, you can't be with your kids 24/7 and when your cleaning up one mess you can't be observing to see what the next one is going to be! I've tried shouting (she shouts back), naughty step (works for a while and she hates it but then she will do something in retaliation for being punsihed!), I used to even resort to a smack on the hand when I got really cross but I have stopped that completely since she started smacking others.
Who would you suggest for some professional advice on behaviours? Is it an Occuapational Therapist (we have never spoken with one)? I could go on all night but I know now that they are finding her difficult to manage at nursery as well. Apparently when Mum collected her today (I wok evenings) they told her that she had been smacking (ALOT) and moaning (pretend crying) all afternoon as well as tiping the water tray and painting her face and eating the paint. I get a little bit annoyed because they get funding and I think why the hell does her one to one let her do these things? That's a whole other story....
So as I said, advice please before I start consulting adoption agencies (he he)... xxx
