hi adam.there must be a shy bunch in this forum. the blokes i mean. so how is joshua doing? charli is doing just fine. we have introduced her to the potty and she seems to be taking to it. the health visitor is set in her ways because she thinks it is too early to introduce her to it at ten months but she aint done a poo in her nappy for a couple of months. she has been doing it in her potty. she might not be able to ask us to get her potty yet but she certainly knows what its for.

I work at the Bradford Royal Infirmary, and since being up here, 10 years now, have lived around Bradford, Shipley, Bingley and now settled in Keighley. Well whenever you do get up this way, we can meet up for a beer and Charli and Kacie can have a natter, well a gurgle anyway.

all round bradford to be honest, i was renting for quite a while(when i first moved up to Yorkshire and was young free and single, lol), but mainly in Frizinghall then Little Horton, also lived in Shipley, Saltaire and Bingley. We are currently in Keighley, just off West Lane near to centre of town.

Hi all,
I'm the dad of Gabriel Jude Barry, his mother is a member on this site so, after reading this message about dads, I decided I would also join up. I aint even looked at this site before but it is pretty good, full of helpful stuff. My son has downs syndrome but I look at it as he can be the first down's syndome person to do whatever, rather than he cant do something because he has downs. For instance; you can tell by his picture I am a Wigan Warriors fan therefore I think he will be the first downs person to play for Wigan rather than he can't play rugby because he has downs. Whether he does or not doesn't matter...as long as he is given the chance. Anybody else got thoughts on my philosophy??

Hi Mark I love your philosophy. My lad with be given all the same opportunitys his brother has had and if he finds something he loves and is good at, then that's brill. We only live about 7 miles away from Wigan, so if you ever want a pitstop on route to or from the Rugby anytime give us a knock. My hubbys from Wigan too, but must be the only Wiganer not into Rugby or the Latics sad eh. Likes a good pie or two though lol.I'll See if I can get him on here sometime. Maxine

Mark, love the pic of your little man in his kit (he would look better in a Bulls kit though, lol), when he gets rich and famous from his carrer with the warriors, he can marry our angel Kacie as she's be after a millionaire to look after her, lol, although im hoping she will be playing for Birmingham City FC ladies by then. Im with you all the way with your philosophy about being given the opportunity. Take it easy and if your ever over in Yorkshire look us up for a beer or two. Darren

Hi, Thanks for the offers of pit stops and beer stops it's a long way to Wigan from Cardiff and pretty thirsty work driving. Maxine, I'm sure that if you forced your husband into sitting down and watching the mighty Wigan he would be hooked. Maybe you could bribe him with a couple of those pies !! Darren, my Mrs is a Bulls fan and we've had aguments (playful ones) because I won't have my boy wearing any other kit, so dont give her any ideas about a junior bull....his first words were Daddy, Farrel and Radlinsky.....he still aint saying Mummy. I'm glad you think the same about opportunities, I read in the down's magazine the other month that the rugby league association has just granted a young lad with down's permision to play. Thats exactly what i'm talking about.....someone has to be first for everything.
PS the offer goes both ways...if your ever in Cardiff give us a shout, we can show you around, it's very good.
Mark.

hi mark. glad to see another dad on the site. i think that is a great philosophy. i have a little girl called charli who has downs. any little milestone that she makes we cherish. like when she started clapping. as for the rugby im a bradford lad originally so i would have to say the bulls aswell . but i long for the day she is walking. we have just come back from a first family holiday to a haven in newquay and it is totally kids orientated but as charli cant walk yet it was hard seeing all the other kids getting involved and charli not being able to. as soon as we got back we booked another holiday next july to butlins in minehead so fingers crossed she will be walking by then so she can interact with the other kids.
p.s posted on my missus's name. she was signed in so didnt realise. charlisdad

Hi Charlisdad, I'm sure she'll be walking soon mate. How old is she? I'm in the same boat with my boy, he is 15 months now, he runs around in his walker like a loonatic but he aint walking yet. My friend was in my house the other day and he commented that Gabriel is going to be big trouble when he can walk because he is already into everything. I got 2 step kids but he is my only child so I tend to spoil him rotten. When he decides its time to pull all the dvd's off there rack and throw them around the room or rip the news papers into little pieces I'm usually too busy laughing to stop him, he's already got his old man wrapped around his finger. Mark
